SUSAN DERKSEN
(nee REIMER)
October 31, 1923 - November 17, 2019

We sadly announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Susan Derksen, at the age of 96 years.
She was born in Horndean on October 31, 1923 to Henry H. and Suzanna Reimer. She was predeceased by her husband, David H. Derksen, three sisters and their husbands, and one son-in-law, John Kehler.
She is survived by her children, Lorne Derksen (Ruth), Sandra Kehler, Ryan Derksen (Lynne) and Cliff Derksen (Mary), seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
On June 9, 1946 she married David H. Derksen when he returned from serving in the Second World War. Sue was a strong, independent person who accepted all difficulties head on. She never complained but was able to quickly accept life's challenges with strength and grace. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, gardening, playing cards and doing word search puzzles. They lived in Horndean most of their lives until her husband's passing in 2006. She brought joy to all of those who loved her for her 96 years. She will be deeply missed.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
