PATRICK MICHAEL MULGREW
December 4, 1936 - November 22, 2019

Our much-loved father and grandfather passed away peacefully, with his children at his side, succumbing to the effects of a stroke, at the age of 82.
Predeceased by wife Karen in 2005. Pat is survived by his son Kenneth (Mavis); daughter Mary (Dwayne); grandchildren, Liam, Matthew, Rhys and Zoe; and sisters, Veronica and Angela.
One of six children born to Irish immigrants, his connection with Ireland held strong and was a running theme throughout his life. Pat's formative years in Winnipeg were spent at St. Edward's Elementary School and St. Paul's High School. He achieved a B.A. in General Arts from St. Paul's College at the University of Manitoba in 1961, where he was also awarded the honour of Senior Stick and went on to earn his M.A. and Ph. D in Clinical Psychology. Pat had a varied and accomplished career in Winnipeg and Ontario and retired after 18 years as Regional Psychologist for the "D" Division of the RCMP.
Devoting his time, energy and love into his lake property in northwestern Ontario was what he looked forward to the most - from childhood jaunts with his parents and siblings to his final lake adventure with his grandchildren last year. In Pat's words, "there's no such thing as a bad day at the lake."
In keeping with Pat's wishes, there will be a celebration of his life held in Winnipeg this summer. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sincere condolences to all of Patrick's family members. Patrick was a long-distance RCMP colleague of mine. I had great times with him at our annual RCMP Regional Psychologists' meetings. He loved to tell jokes and laugh. He was a great guy and colleague. Sincerely, Gilles Chiasson RCMP Regional Psychologist Atlantic Region (now retired in Nanaimo, BC) - Posted by: Gilles Chiasson (RCMP Work Colleague) on: Dec 24, 2019

  • RIP Patrick. - Posted by: David Pettigrew (Friend from RCMP days) on: Dec 01, 2019

  • We are deeply saddened to hear that Pat, our dear friend, has passed away. We got to know Pat when he moved to Portage la Prairie in 1964 to be come a social worker for the Children's Aid Society of Central Manitoba. Pat, Ron Meush and I (John) shared a basement apartment and there are many stories we could tell about living together, Pat was the godfather for our oldest daughter, Jacqueline. When I was at Patrick's School of Social Work, we visited Pat in Windsor and visited at his place which was part of Janisse Brothers Funeral Home. Pat was so proud of his family and loved his grandchildren very much. He was so thankful to Mary for letting him stay with her family. It no doubt added many years to his happiness. He was also so proud of Ken and his family. We had a phone call from Pat just days after his final stroke. He was his usual, jovial self even though he knew it wouldn't be long. Pat, you lovable Irishman, will be deeply missed by all who knew him for his compassion, his wonderful sense of humor and his loving friendship. Thank you Angie for letting us know about Pat's last days. Our love and prayers are shared knowing that his soul will be in heaven today with Karen. Our deepest sympathy to the family who cared for him all these last years. Our tears are tears of joy in celebration of a life truly lived.
