WILLIAM (BILL) NORMAN DAVIDSON
On November 24, 2019, William (Bill) Norman Davidson, aged 76, passed away with family at his side, after a battle with cancer.
Bill (or Willy as he was known in his younger years) was born in Newfoundland to Thomas (Bertie) and Stella. After the war, he moved with his parents to Oakview, MB to farm on the family property, where his other four siblings were born. After his father contracted polio in 1953, Bill was raised by his wonderful uncle Peter who has been a father to him his entire life.
Bill married Eileen Williment in 1965 and had three children, Dianna, Dan and David Charles. After a few years in Winnipeg, they moved out to Ashern where Bill built houses with his father-in-law Frank and brother-in-law Robert. In 1978 the family moved out to the family farm where Bill farmed in addition to continuing building.
Bill enjoyed being a father and was always present at every single activity in which the children participated. Favourite family memories are spending weekends at home having snacks and playing cards and games, as well as the summer road trip vacations. Also special were the weekly drives to Winnipeg to have family dinner on Sundays with his father and mother. Bill was very active in the Elks organization for many years, was the Exalted Ruler for a number of them, sat in the district seats, and enjoyed all of their volunteer activities.
Bill has left us to join his mom, dad, brothers, Drewe and Wayne; and special family friend Kris Johnson. He will be enjoying endless games of cribbage and 500 with them all. He is survived by his daughter Dianna (Ed); sons, Dan (Shaleen) and Charles; his wonderful grandchildren, Cole, Asia and Ella; the mother of his children Eileen (Richard); Uncle Peter and Aunty Angel; sister Dayle (Dave); sister Linda (Dennis); sisters-in-law, Gloria and Heidi (Al); and many cousins and friends.
We would like to give sincere thanks to all of the wonderful staff on RR6 at the Health Sciences Centre, and especially to the absolutely amazing people on the Fourth Floor at Beacon Hill Lodge who made these last two months of his life more comfortable and special than we could have imagined.
A gathering will be held next summer to celebrate his life and put him to rest next to his family members in the family plot in Oakview. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to Beacon Hill Lodge, 190 Fort Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1C9 or to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation 1160 - 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
