April 25, 1933 - November 29, 2019

Family was at the center of Nellie's life. From cooking great meals and tending to a meticulous house, to creating heirloom-quality knit and crocheted gifts, Nellie took the greatest pleasure in caring for her family and her home.
Mourning her passing is her beloved husband of 64 years, Jack; their children, Maria Moore (Curtis), Henry (Sandi), Jack (Keith) and Frank (Yvonne); five grand-children; and three great-grandchildren.
Nellie and Jack enjoyed the simple pleasure of time spent together. They tended a beautiful garden, shopped as a team every Saturday, and spent many a Sunday after church taking leisurely drives to nowhere in particular. No matter how far afield they might roam though, Nellie always insisted in returning home in time to sleep in her own bed. They had travelled far from their origins in Holland to set up a new life for their young family in Canada, and now, all these years later, she was content to enjoy the results of their hard work.
If there are walls in heaven, we're pretty sure that Nellie has already set herself to washing them. And they will be spotless.

We miss you Nellie / Ma / Oma.

Please join us for a casual celebration of Nellie's life at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019. Reception and burial to follow.

  • Mrs. Hagenaars was such a great mom, I always enjoyed going over to their house. You always felt very welcomed and yes, her Dutch cooking was fabulous. First time that I ever saw chocolate sprinkles on toast I that it was a little weird but I loved it. I was included in on many car rides with Henry, and I remember them well. My condolences go out to Henry and the whole Hagenaars family. She will be missed. - Posted by: Frank Lucarz (Friend) on: Dec 04, 2019
