JOHN VAN DER ZANDE
John was born in Winnipeg April 6, 1954.
He is survived by Shelley Demski, his loving wife of 42 years; siblings, Frank (Diana), Ria, Elly (Jeremy), Nick (Diane); brothers-in-law, Gerry (Linda), Glen (Karen), Darrell (Darlene), numerous nieces and nephews, his Aunt Lena and cousins in Canada and Holland.
John was predeceased by parents, Nick and Johanna van der Zande.
He grew up in North Kildonan until the family moved to Springfield in 1965. John has a large circle of close friends. He had an amazing ability to make people feel welcome. He loved being an independent contractor (trucking, landscaping, snow clearing, etc.) and took great pride in work well done. Music was a passion in John's life. He loved playing the drums with friends at their home known as "Johnny Buck's Roadhouse". He will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Association or a charity of your choice.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oakbank Baptist Church, 26033 Springfield Road in Oakbank. Interment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery.
