ANGELO COSTANTINI
September 22, 1948 - December 5, 2019

With family by his side, Angelo passed away at the age of 71, at St. Boniface General Hospital.
Angelo was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and active volunteer in his community, working behind-the-scenes and out of the spotlight to support many causes. He greeted everyone he encountered with laughter and a smile, and always looked for ways he could make things better.
He was born in Bascianella, Commune di Colledara, Abruzzo, Italy, the 11th of 12 children to Sofia and Paolo. Angelo moved to Canada at the age of 19 before meeting his partner of 50 years, Clara, at a social in Winnipeg. Angelo was recently recognized by the Sons of Italy for his devotion and contributions and was also a major supporter of the Kidney Foundation.
Angelo's professional contributions can be seen throughout the Province of Manitoba in the structures and buildings constructed in his decades as an Ironworker. Angelo's work later transitioned into renovating homes and businesses; work he found particularly rewarding as he loved to see how his eye for detail and craftsmanship brought happiness to others.
Left to cherish his memory are loving wife Clara, children, Michael (Jennifer) and Tania (Brian), grandchildren, Siena, Ariella and Benedetto, and his siblings: Pasquale, Giovanni, Maria, Ulderico and Dina, including many siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada.
Angelo was predeceased by his mother Sofia Mantini, and father Paulo Costantini, siblings: Matilde, Luigi, Rodolfo, Mafalda, Sabatino and Severino, and siblings-in-law: Berardo, Giovanni, Maria, Fernanda, and Marcello, Tecla and Emilia.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to his family and friends who provided support and company for Angelo and Clara at the hospital. The family also extends their appreciation and gratitude to the many doctors and staff who supported his care at the Grace and St. Boniface hospitals.
Condolences will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Winnipeg, MB, with the Mass of Resurrection to follow at 11:00 a.m. to be presided by Rev. Father Sam Argenziano.
Entombment will follow at Four Apostles Mausoleum, Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Highway #1 East at Navin Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba in his memory.

  • I have know Angelo since 1983, has a friend and part of the family has Clara and my dearest friend Dina being Angelo sister in law. Many times Angelo and I would talk shop talk has he being a Iron worker and Welder, and I being a Electician would meet on job sites. Angelo being a welder was good at his job, I would see some of the work he did and it was done right. He had many talents that he shared with friends and family members. We always meet at Christmas at Dina's house have a few drinks and it's not going to be the same this year without Angelo, we are going to miss you. I last saw Angelo at a social on 10 November at the Cabato Centre and I knew about his illness he was a very brave person dealing with this condition I truly believe he was going to make it this time, Unfortunately God had other plans for him. You are a special person and we going to miss you. May God bless you in your journey and to Clara think of the memories and keep them close to your heart. My condolences go out to Clara, Tania(Brian) Michael(Jennifer) and to all those who knew him.RIP - Posted by: Joseph Halyckyj (Close friends ) on: Dec 13, 2019

  • The last time I saw Angelo he was sitting in his basement figuring out to fix a pipe that burst in his kitchen while he was frail and weak. He was someone who didn’t understand the word quit. He achieved so much...raising a beautiful family with a successful prosperous career. He and Clara were constant visitors at my mum's place and even feeling weak he (they) attended my mum's funeral. Now he is with her along with family/friends. With heartfelt condolences - Analiza & Remolo Marinelli - Posted by: Remolo Pietro Marinelli (Cousin) on: Dec 11, 2019

  • Brother Angelo always gave, gave, helped and supported our Sons and Daughters of Italy Garibaldi Lodge. He volunteered time and time again, walked for CancerCare even when he was fighting his own fight behind the scenes, never asking for anything. He is the embodiment of all things good in mankind and what it means to be a good and caring person. To honour Angelo is to do what he did and support and care for others. - Posted by: Tat-Liang Fabio Cheam (Friend) on: Dec 09, 2019
