NICHOLAS MICHAEL TARDIFF

On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at St. Boniface Hospital, Nic Tardiff passed away, with family by his side, at the age of 26 years.
Nic was predeceased by his grandparents, June and Maurice Tardiff (Nana and Popoo).
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Tim and Val, his grandma Betty Stopa, aunt Angela, cousin Thalia, and girlfriend Lisa.
He was adventurous and at an early age he showed great passion for sports: soccer, swimming, skating, baseball, basketball, golf and little league hockey. He played AA Hockey with the Vic's, AAA Hockey with the Warriors, high school hockey and varsity basketball with Dakota Collegiate. He attended U of M for one year and quickly realized it was not for him. He then shifted his interest to electrical and said he was "going old school" like his Popoo. Nic attended Winnipeg South Tech and soon after became an apprentice electrician with QMS. As life would have it Nic went to Aurora, Ontario, King City, Newmarket and then on to Thousand Islands. Upon his return to Winnipeg he began working for Rohl Global. His dedication and work ethics were something he was exceptionally proud of. In his free time, Nic loved listening and reading sports; TSN, Sportsnet were always on. On days where the Blue Jays, Sea Hawks, Jets, Raptors, or Canucks were playing he would be watching. His passion for golf brought him to the course whenever he had the chance. His favourite golf buddy was his dad. Nic's Saturday nights were devoted to playing hockey with the Springs League. He loved going to Springs Church on a Sunday morning as it lifted him up and gave him a sense of belonging. The biggest smile you would see would be when Nic was driving the gator through the trails at the cabin. Nic had an enormous appetite for food of all kinds but his greatest love was for cookies and milk. Nicholas was very fortunate to have met Lisa and her family. They showed him love, kindness and caring. Nic himself was a very kind, loving and gentle person who always wanted to see others happy. Most recently he spoke of making sandwiches and delivering to the homeless on the street. Nic believed that whenever you would find a dime, it meant an angel was looking out for you and speaking to you. So when you find a dime, it will be Nic smiling down and thinking of you.
A celebration of Nic's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2019 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Cemetery
Thank you to the staff of MICU, St. Boniface Hospital for your care and kindness. A special thanks to Lisa, Jill, Ava, Aunty, Inga and Marc for always caring and loving.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Nic to the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre or to Corner Stone to Recovery, Newmarket, Ontario.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me,
please try to understand, That an angel
came and called my name, and took
me by the hand; The angel said my
place was ready, In Heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind all
those I dearly love. But when I walked
through Heaven's Gates, I felt so much
at home, for God looked down, smiled
at me, And told me "Welcome Home."
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart, for every
time you think of me, I'm right
there in your heart.

  • Val & Tim, My condolences to you and your family. Very heart-breaking, but now Nic is at peace and watching over all of you. I remember when Geraldine and I came by one time to bring Nic a gift from all of us (when I used to work) from Admitting when he hurt his leg. And when he used to work at Co-op and I’d say Hi to him, telling him I worked with you, Val. Nic was always well mannered and polite. I fondly remember Val telling happy memories of when Nic was a young kid. You could tell how much love Val and Tim had for their son. You can never give too much love for your child. Nic was very lucky to have you both as wonderful, caring, kind parents. So sorry for your loss. Take Care always.
