ANNA GEIGER

It is with sadness the family of Anna Geiger announces her passing on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg one day after her 97th birthday. Anna was the wife of her late husband Martin Geiger (April 1981) after 40 years of marriage.
Anna is survived by her three children, Rosa Sarkany, Martin Geiger (Darlene) and Steven Geiger (Evelyn); also grandchildren, Robbie Geiger (Leah), Annie and Michael Sarkany, Christopher and Melissa Geiger; great-grandchildren, Miranda and Nicholas Mathieson, Caroline Perfumo, Lucas and Reid Sarkany. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Rosa Geiger of Budapest, Hungary and her only sibling Rosallia Kuller of Germany, as well as her son-in-law Mike Sarkany of Winnipeg.
Anna was born in Budapest, Hungary and immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1952 with her husband and childhood sweetheart along with their son and daughter. Winnipeg then became their new home.
Mom was a devout Catholic who faithfully attended Christ the King Parish as long as she was able. She was very musically talented and loved to play her home organ. Mom was an excellent cook, enjoyed sewing and singing her favourite song Edelweiss in both English and German. Mom and Dad were very good parents and made every effort to provide a good life for their family.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 847 St. Mary's Road with Rev. Fr. Peter Genger presiding. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, 520 Osborne Street.
We would like to give a special thank you to the entire staff of The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for the great care and respect Mom received during her time there. In particular Sherry, Betty, Bo, Karen, Justin, Rosalinda, Shawna, Sharon and Rebecca.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba, 1 - 452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4.
