ADELE BERTRAND
Adèle was born and raised in Domremy, Saskatchewan, the youngest of a large French Canadian family. Dreams of nursing and an exciting new adventure brought her to Winnipeg where she studied and earned her nursing certificate. Soon after, she met Roger, the love of her life, and wedding bells were in the air and a celebration of 56 years of marriage this past August.
Adèle could often be found in the kitchen preparing the countless meals for her large family. She enjoyed baking, especially at Christmas always ensuring that Dad's favourite treats were made. On the rare occasion Mom would sit at the piano and play, from memory tunes from her youth.
She had wonderful friends, particularly Don and Louise Dussault and family, as well as Stella Boily and family. She really enjoyed sharing meals and holidays with them. Although she did not get to travel a lot she did not shy away when someone came over with a new dish, recipe or bottle of wine. She will be missed by many both near and far. Her family in parts of Saskatchewan was always very near and dear to her heart. She loved her phone conversations with her siblings, catching up on family events and reminiscing about life on the farm.
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Roger, children, Marc and his wife Véronique Kaye, Paul, Denis and his wife Louise (née Goerget), Jo Anne Desanges, Alex, Yvonne and her husband Andrew Anguish, Robert and his partner Manuela Fontes, Pierre and his wife Jennifer (née Toupin), and Eric.
She is also survived by an enormous brood of grandchildren, Delphine, Jonathan, Ryan, Evan, Taylor, Maryse, Louis-Simon, Matthieu, Gabrielle, Anna, Mario, Devon, Mia, Luka, Tristan and Beau, along with great-granddaughter Josephine.
She goes now to join her beloved son Normand, along with her mother, father, siblings and in-laws who have passed and are waiting for her to join them in Heaven.
The Bertrand family wishes to thank Actionmarguerite on River Road, particularly the wonderful team on the 2nd floor who took great care of Mom throughout her stay and particularly at the end.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019, at St. Eugene Parish, 1009 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
We thank you all for your kind wishes and would ask that, in lieu of flowers, a donation in Adèle's name be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
