CLIFFORD (CLIFF) ELMER FURST
Clifford was born at the family farmhouse in Morris, Manitoba on January 19, 1927. In 1935, the family moved to Winnipeg. He was raised in and educated in the North End attending Argyle, Victoria-Albert, Strathcona and Machray Schools. On January 17, 1944, at 16 years old, he started work as a Machinist Apprentice at the Canadian National Railway. He advanced from Machinist to Apprentice Instructor, Assistant Supervisor, and finally Supervisor. He was given the opportunity for early retirement in January of 1986, at the age of 59.
Clifford was extremely talented at building and problem solving. He built his own garage and finished the basement of their home on Polson Avenue. In 1976, they bought a shell of a cabin at Malachi, Ontario. Clifford finished both the interior and exterior including insulating, exterior siding, interior wall finishing, flooring, electrical, stonework, attached gazebo, decking and other outbuildings. Clifford and Anna loved gardening as proven by their flowers, vegetables, and rock gardens both in the city and out at the lake. Clifford and Anna were world travellers exploring all corners of the globe, visiting six of the seven continents.
He will be dearly missed by his two sons, Erick (Kathy) and Mark (Dagmar); grandchildren, Jason (Lorelle), Dustin (Jackie), Meghan (Brendan), Kara (Wells), Krista (Geoff), Sean, Ryan (Stacey) Matthew; and 11 great-grandchildren, Ela, Rowan, Zoe, Hayden, Conor, Leah, Teya, Mason, Trini, Aidan, and Nolan.
At Clifford's request, there will be no service. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba.

I am so sorry to hear of Cliff’s passing. I worked with Anna at St. John’s High School and subsequently met Cliff. I have never meet a nicer, kinder or more gentle man than Cliff. I am sure Cliff and Anna are having a joyful, loving reunion. I was very lucky to have known both of them. - Posted by: Gail Carswell (Friend) on: Dec 21, 2019

Was my great pleasure to have known such a gentle, kind man! Happy he is joining his lovely wife Anna, to continue such a wonderful union of two of the nicest “lake neighbours” anyone could ask for. Rest In Peace and Eternal happiness. Cindy Miller and Family - Posted by: Cynthia Miller (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2019

It was a pleasure working for him and with him. He was a great man. He will be missed. I really liked Cliff and he was a great dad. There are people in this world that make a difference, he was one of them. With deepest sympathy, Vern Peterson. - Posted by: Vern Peterson (Worked with Cliff and was a friend.) on: Dec 13, 2019
