ERICA LILLIAN JANZEN
October 31, 1932 - December 6, 2019

Erica Janzen, 87 years, of Winnipeg, MB, passed away peacefully at Deer Lodge Centre.
She is survived by sister Alvena Dyck (Victor) and family, brother Al (Donna Wideman) and family, sister Alma Zoppa (Albert) and family, and many nieces and nephews.
Erica was born in Clearwater, MB. Graduated from high school in Lowe Farm, MB. Taught public school for one year, then chose to enter the nursing program in Winnipeg General Hospital (Health Sciences Centre), graduating in 1958. She took particular interest in naturopathic remedies in nursing for cancer. This brought her to travel to many areas of the world teaching Nursing and English. She received her "Masters" degree in Goshen Indiana in 1967, then her "Doctorate" in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1987, and the same year published a book on "Guided Imagery", receiving many awards for all her accomplishments. She particularly loved horses and cats. Retiring in Arizona in 1997 brought her attention to hiking those beautiful mountains and entertaining her northern visitors, She moved back to Winnipeg in October 2015, to Bethel Place.
A memorial was held for family and friends on December 8, 2019, at Deer Lodge Centre to celebrate her "amazing" life.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Hello! My Aunt Jean Besich was a friend of Erica's. Jean shared a copy of Erica's Guided Imagery book with me to help me and my son with medical issues. I had the info stored away; then I moved. I came across it again and read it today. If you have a copy of her work, great! If you need a copy, let me know. We can figure out a way to get it to you. I lead a Tai Chi practice on zoom. Interestingly enough, I use visualization and some guided imagery in my classes! If you need or want a copy of Erica's thesis or want other info, here is my email address: tk.pacifica@gmail.com Reading her thesis today was very affirming! What a wonderful person she must have been. I hope you have fabulous memories of her. My Aunt Jean passed away a few years ago as well. May they rest in peace.
