JOSEPH KASPER
January 1, 1932 - December 4, 2019
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Kasper, his children, Dan (Lynda) and Cyndi (Bruce), and grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew. Additionally, his stepgranddaughter Kristin and step-great-grandson Brayden.
He was predeceased by his mother Ewa Kasperowski, his in-laws, Daniel and Anne Yurchak, his brother Stan Kasperski, and his sister Helen Logan.
Joseph graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy with honours at the University of Manitoba in 1955 and continued on to be a practicing pharmacist for 60 years. He worked very hard to rise in his profession and was very proud of his job. Hard work and dedication to his career came as a second nature to him which was present throughout all aspects of his life.
He loved to spend the summers at his cabin in Victoria Beach with his wife, children and later on grandchildren. While at the beach he enjoyed fishing along with his son, and that passion was passed onto his grandson, Matthew. Joseph and his wife loved to travel together in their early years of marriage and throughout his wife's retirement, as Joe retired long after his wife did. His life revolved around his two grandchildren which included hockey, dance, football and any school event. He was very proud to attend both of their high school graduations as they both graduated with honours.
Another one of his many passions was horses. He was very involved with the horse community and owned show and race horses throughout his life. His passion was passed onto his daughter, which she incorporated into her career choice.
He was additionally an avid sports fan and was elated to see the Winnipeg Blue Bombers win a Grey Cup after 29 years. Joseph and wife had season tickets for the Bombers for 30 plus years.
He will be greatly missed by his entire family and anybody that he was able to help throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Assiniboia Downs on January 11 at 1:00 p.m. in the Terrace Dining Room.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joe's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. I met him through Fred Slemko at the Sandy Lake Hunting Lodge. For many years he would be at the Lodge 2 or 3 times every fall. Although Joe was an avid and knowledgeable waterfowl hunter, it occurred to me that many times, the actual hunting was secondary to the visiting and camaraderie of whoever happened to be around at the time. He was a good story teller. I especially enjoyed the banter between Joe and Fred at meal times and during the high level conferences in the "Bluebill Lounge". Joe will be missed and talked about for years to come any time there is a gathering at the Lodge. - Posted by: Jack Coulson (Friend through Sandy Lake Hunting Lodge) on: Jan 10, 2020

I met and became partners with Joe through my friendship with Fred Slemko. I was honoured to be associated with Joe and stand in awe at the long-standing friendship that existed for over a 50 year period between Joe and Fred. In my dealings, Joe was a man of class and integrity. Fred’s testimony is a witness to the epitome of what defines a “true friend”. Not many can claim that they have known a man that exhibits Joe’s extraordinary qualities and have those that that have witnessed that over such a long period of time. I count myself as extremely blessed to have known Joe. - Posted by: Jim Barry (Partner with Joe in the Sandy Lake Hunt Club) on: Dec 14, 2019
