SHEILA ALLIE GIEG
(nee ABBOTT)
June 14, 1933 December 7, 2019
To cherish her memory are her sons, Grant (Linda) and Scott (Anne); granddaughter Jen; sister Darlene (Burnell) and her best friend Colleen.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ella and Ira, her brother Morley, and her beloved husband Gordon.
She was born in Tisdale, SK, where she grew up with her parents and siblings. Sheila loved reading, doings crafts and travelling. Her family moved to The Pas, Manitoba, where she attended high school and worked as a sales clerk and telephone operator. She met Gordon, her lifelong love, and they
married in July, 1953. Their two sons were born in Outlook, SK. In 1965 they moved to Winnipeg. As the boys grew, she decided to go back to school, qualifying as a library
technician. Decades of students at schools in St. James and throughout Winnipeg will
remember her kindness, support and humour.
Sheila was proud of her family, while
remaining ever modest about her own achievements. The sudden passing of Gordon, together with her declining health, challenged her endurance, but never defeated her
positive spirit and concern for others. We who remain to grieve her passing take pride in having had her in our lives, praying for her well deserved rest and pledging to remember her always.
Donations made to Heart and Stroke
Foundation in Sheila's memory would be gratefully appreciated.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
