LAWRENCE GRANT HAMMOND
June 27, 1928 - December 9, 2019
Larry is predeceased by his parents, Esther and Grant; brother Charlie (Margaret); and sisters, Mary, Dorothy (John) and Shirley (Tom). Larry is survived by Betty, his wife of 70 years; his children, Laraine (Wayne), Grant (Cindy), Glenn (Gail) and Jeanette; grandchildren, Chris (Cindy), Tammy (Ang), Lyndsy (Ryan), Mike (Kylie), Jessica (Andre) and Matt; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Kole, Lily and Grayson; brother Bob (Elinor), and many nieces and nephews.
Larry worked for MTS for 40 years. He worked in several areas, from installation to engineering, including a lead role in fibre optics technology. Larry was known to commute to work by boat (that he and Betty built). Upon retirement, he started a small engine repair business and volunteered with MTS Pioneers. He could fix pretty much anything! Larry loved fishing, canoeing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and walking his dogs. He played many sports, including hockey well into his 50s. Larry loved music and played the trombone and piano. He had a great sense of humour and was an excellent storyteller. His family enjoys recalling stories of his many antics as a boy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
