JOSEPH THOMAS PETER MARCHESSAULT
Tom has gone to join his wife Jean, and their son Wayne, who both predeceased him.
He is survived by his children, Gail (Morley Walker), Tina (Fraser Durham), Terri Settle, Carl, and daughter-in-law Betty, along with his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tom will also be missed by his sisters, Corine Valiquette and Helene Springer, and their families.
Tom was a member of the Armed Forces for over 20 years until he retired in 1971. During that time, he was stationed in many places throughout Canada, Europe and Cyprus. After retiring from the army, he worked at the R.C.M.P. for more than 20 years, as well as the Fort Garry library. Finally, at the age of 64, he retired for good.
Tom's hobbies included mall-walking, five-pin bowling, golfing and bingo, as well as playing cards, Yahtzee, cribbage and many other games. He was also an enthusiastic hockey fan, especially of his home team, the Montreal Canadiens, and later the Winnipeg Jets.
Tom had a big heart and never shied away from helping others. This was evident by his years volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Tom accepted and welcomed everyone into his life and his family, no matter who they were or what their circumstances. He was best known for being friendly, laid-back, gentle, kind, and always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
Tom was very grateful to his family, friends and caregivers for all the support they provided him over the last several years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., January 7, 2020, at the Norwood Legion, 134 Marion St.

We just found out about Tom's passing today and were totally shocked. It was unfortunately too late to attend his service. The gang at the mall wanted to send condolences. Tom disappeared from our lives about a year ago and it was a huge loss. And now with his passing, we'll miss his easy going ways and ready smile. He had a remarkable memory for numbers, dates. He will be remembered by one and all here at the mall. - Posted by: Peach and Ed (Fellow mall walker) on: Jan 13, 2020
