SHIRLEY FOURNEAUX
(nee CHORNOBOY)
January 11, 1948 - December 22, 2019

In a room filled with love and gratitude, surrounded by her family, Shirley joined her loved ones who passed before her- parents, Taras and Joan Chornoboy, sister Christine Chornoboy, and husband Georges Fourneaux.
Shirley was one of a kind. She lit up every room she walked into, and the party only truly got started once she arrived. She was real, and funny...we mean laugh out loud funny, and inappropriate in the very best of ways. She lightened people's loads, and you always felt better for having spent time with her. She never believed in holding a grudge; why waste time being mad, when you can spend it having fun? She was a social butterfly her entire life, and wherever she lived, the welcome mat was well worn.
Shirley was known as Cool Mom. The family home in Transcona was always filled to the rafters with kids, and she would frequently be tripping over piles of children's shoes scattered at both the front and back doors of the house. Lisa and Marc always thought their friends were there to see them, but we now know better. Those kids drove her crazy, but she loved them like her own.
Our mom did a lot of special things for us. Super special things that made us feel loved beyond measure. No one will ever love us quite like that again.
Shirley will be profoundly missed by her children, Lisa (Miles) and Marc (Kristine), grandchildren, Karissa and Sarah, brother Larry (Eleanor), and her special community of friends at Dawson Trails.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held Friday, January 10, 2020, 10:00 a.m., at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, (204) 222 3241.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics Manitoba.

  • So sorry to hear about the loss of Shirley. I recall spending time at the cool Transcona house as a child! I got to know Shirley better because she would often walk over to our house 2 doors down to spend time with my mom. She would always make me laugh! Great memories. She will be missed. My sincerest condolences to Lisa, Marc, and family. - Posted by: Carolyn Capell (Meyer) (former neighbor) on: Jan 10, 2020
