Peacefully on December 26, 2019, William John Johnson, formerly of Vogar, Manitoba, son of Annie Ethel (nee Bush) and John J. Johnson.

Also surviving are his brother Paul (Bev) and in-laws, Raymond (Doreen), Dorothy and Winston (Gail) and many nieces and nephews.
Service to his community was important to John. He volunteered with the local community club and became a school trustee in 1972. He was with the Lakeshore School Division for 27 years. He also worked with the Manitoba Association of School Trustees, becoming President in 1984.
John was a good caring husband and family man. He loved sports, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals and music. John loved writing and self-published four books about his life and community.
Thanks to the staff of the Eriksdale Personal Care Home for their care and kindness. It was deeply appreciated.
A memorial service will follow this summer. No flowers please; donations can be made to the Siglunes Community Club, General Delivery, Vogar, MB R0C 3C0 or a charity of your choice.

  • I had the pleasure to get to know John when I was the rural reporter at the Free Press. He had many interests and was ever curious. I thoroughly enjoyed his self-published books about the Interlake. He really filled a void. He also gave me many topics to write about. My condolences to family members. - Posted by: Bill Redekop (friend) on: Mar 22, 2020
