JEANNINE DENISE CHATEAU
(nee MAITRE)
June 24, 1940 – January 1, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jeannine Denise Chateau, on January 1, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jeannine was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Gerald Chateau, her beloved son Donald, her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Gisele Maitre, her brother-in-law Roland Chateau and sister-in-law Lorette Chateau, and brothers-in-law, Gerald (Andy) Anderson and Larry Stephenson.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Paul Chateau (Kayla) and Gisele Oleksiuk (Darren), grandson Tyler, brother-in-law Denis Chateau (Geraldine), and sisters-in-law, Edith Stephenson and Carole Anderson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jeannine had an incredibly positive outlook on life. She was a woman of tremendous faith, grace and courage. It was her deep faith that consoled her and carried her through life's most difficult trials.
Jeannine was above all else a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Despite a long history of serious medical issues, her main concern was always the wellbeing of others, most notably her children. Her only grandson, Tyler, was the light of her life. Jeannine was an exceptional role model for her integrity, humility, selflessness and compassion. She possessed a nurturing, kind spirit and lived a life of gratitude. She was thankful for everything, big and small. She loved children, animals, flowers, cooking and music.
Special thanks to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit, as well as Dr. Kidane, Health Sciences Centre.
A private Funeral Mass will be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • She was a gentle spirit. Her faith was strong, and she loved people. We shall miss her! - Posted by: Dianna I Brisebois (Friend) on: Jan 08, 2020

  • The Maitres lived next door to us in Ste. Rose du Lac in the 50’s. We were like one big family and Jeannine babysat us some of the time and her brother Ron spent a lot of time with my brothers. We have always tried to keep in touch and were always concerned with the family in the last few years. She will always have a special place in our lives as a caring, wonderful person and someone I always looked up to. Now she is with those who have gone on before her. RIP Jeannine Sincere condolences to her family. - Posted by: Eveline Pallanik (Dufault) (Long ago neighbour and friend) on: Jan 04, 2020
