TOM GIGLIOTTI

Tom, aged 92, passed away on January 7, 2020, in Delta, BC, surrounded by his three daughters.
He is predeceased by his beautiful wife Barbara; his brother Egidio; and his parents, Paolina and Ferdinando Gigliotti.
He is deeply missed by his daughters, Janet (Sean Nieuwenhuis), Dena (Carlos Pedraza), and Lisa (David Hoglund); grandchildren, Sophia, Siena, and Noah; and his sisters, Mary Gigliotti and Sylvia Muscardin; as well as by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, honourary nieces and nephews, and his wonderful circle of friends near and far.
Tom was so well loved and respected by so many people. His passing leaves a huge void in our lives.
A special thank you to the staff at Delta Hospital, to the people with Medical Assistance in Dying, and especially to Dr. David Kason for caring for our dad to his very last moment.
Dad said "no service" but since we never listen to him we told him we're having a celebration anyway, on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at The Harris Barn, 4140 Arthur Drive, Ladner, BC.
Donations can be made in Tom's name to the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation or to Dying With Dignity Canada.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Uncle Tom was always a very special person on my life - he was My Dad's best friend, which meant he figured largely in my childhood. Tom ignited my passion and love for aviation, weather and adventure at a very young age - arranging for my first flight in a Tiger Moth flown to a local small airport by two of his friends Bob & Bob when I was only 4. He was one of my heros - a dashing figure who always had a kind word for me, even when I was just a bratty kid :) It was wonderful to see him marry Barb and have them raise such a wonderful family together - Janet, Dena and Lisa. Can't imagine how much you will all miss your Dad - he was such a special individual with great character, love and regard for those he cherished. HUGE hugs to all of you. - Posted by: Gina Brown (nee Marino) (an honorary niece) on: Mar 15, 2020

  • Growing up in Fort Rouge on a street over from Tom I saw the closeness of Tom, Gig and Mary (no offense to Sylvia whom I do not recall) ... they were family, My exposure to Tom was over 70 years ago however he remains such a positive figure from my youth. My image is of Tom being the tall first baseman on the local fast pitch ball team....a smooth fielding clutch hitting player. That served him well in my image but it was his pleasant demeanor and how he treated me some 9 years his junior that remains in my thoughts of Tom. My condolences to all of Tom's family and directly to Mary. He will be missed for sure, but I know that just as Tom remained in my life memories for over 70 years he will be with you all forever. - Posted by: John Rendall (Admirer) on: Jan 20, 2020

  • I worked with Tom in the weather office and then I met him again at Delta View with Barb. Afterwards with went to the Landing Pub to have a few beers. It is such a shock of his passing. I miss him such as you, - Posted by: Uwe Becker (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2020

  • Janet, I am so sorry to hear the news! But I'm glad you had three days back with him and your family, and that you had the gift of him for so many long and healthy years. - Posted by: Neil Barclay (Friend) on: Jan 11, 2020
