SELMA SMORDIN
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold. Selma leaves to mourn her treasured children, Marcy (Rick), Susan (Arnold), Jill (Ron); as well as her grandchildren, James (Rebecca), Leigh (Nayyer), Deanna, Adrienne, Carly, Tara, Adam; and great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Ava, J.J. and Jacob. She was predeceased by her cherished brother Martin Sinaisky (Elaine).
Selma was born in Winnipeg on March 29, 1933. She happily grew up at the Balforia Apartments with many of her relatives from both sides of her family. Selma married her "Prince Charming", Harold, on December 28, 1954. They were a devoted and loving couple until his death on October 24, 2019.
Selma's number one focus was her family. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Selma had a gift for making everyone feel special. She cooked standing ovation meals, sprinkled magic sleep dust, and with her gentle touch did "beautiful face". We will miss her sage advice and guidance.
Selma cherished her many lifelong friendships, such as the "Gabalots", a group of girlfriends that began in Grade 6, as well as her weekly card games with the girls.
Selma was family and community minded. She volunteered with the Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood, the Manitoba Home for the Developmentally Challenged and the CNIB.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Simkin Centre for their exemplary and compassionate care. They were more than caregivers, they were family.
Funeral services were held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Thursday, January 9, 2020.
Donations may be sent to the Simkin Centre.
We will remember you
in our hearts forever.
