BARBARA ANN THIESEN
October 8, 1956 - January 8, 2020

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Barb passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Kelowna, BC.
Barb will be missed dearly by her family and friends in Manitoba, British Columbia and Arizona. Barb was an avid golfer and member at Rossmere Golf & Country Club, and later at The Harvest Golf Club in Kelowna, as well as Seville Golf & Country Club in Arizona. While in Winnipeg, Barb was also a runner, and along with her friends (The Rocket Girls) completed two full marathons and eight half marathons, with a goal to run in each provincial capital city in Canada.
Barb was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Betty Kennington; and stepson Curtis. She is survived by her husband Bob; step-daughter Tracy; brothers, Bill Kennington (Jessie), Don Kennington (Barb) and Bob Kennington (Maureen), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and especially close family members, Sandie Williams (Grant Riddell), Ron Williams (Marion) and David Williams (Georgette).
Our thanks to the staff at Central Okanagan Hospice House and to her many friends for their emotional and physical support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 22 at Rossmere Golf Club, 925 Watt Street, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Barb's memory.

  • Thoughts are with the family. Barb was a childhood friend growing up on Bannerman, she will be missed by all of us. - Posted by: Marlene Harrison (Friend) on: Jan 16, 2020

  • Heart is broken❤️ Myself and all of our running friends are saddened to hear the passing of such a wonderful, funny and committed friend. We started running in Winnipeg about 17 yr’s ago, I had moved back to Winnipeg and decided to sign up for my first 1/2 marathon and met barb there with the rest of the crew. Next thing you know, we are running in full marathons over a 10 yr period not because of the running it was because of the friendship 😊Barb made us laugh, we shared personal stories of our lives and knew we could just talk for hours with our training. We would travel to different cites especially the Bahamas to run and enjoy each other’s company. Even though Barb moved away to Kelowna I was lucky enough to go see her and Bob and saw the love and enjoyment they were having there with each other. I will miss you Barb and thank you for the thank you note when we sent you a plant from us girls, it meant a lot, take care my friend, love Kathy - Posted by: Kathy Cowie (Friend/running friend/running travelling friend❤️) on: Jan 16, 2020
