Philip leaves behind his sister Yvonne Loiselle; brother Victor; his former wife and good friend, Dianne Kellas; his nephews, David (Gale) and Christopher; and niece Michelle. Philip was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Emma Bonin; sister-in-law Renée; and brother-in-law Leo.
Philip was a proud "North End" boy who attended Sacré-Coeur School, St. Johns High and University of Manitoba. He was employed by the Department of Labour with the Province of Manitoba, and retired as Director of Legislation and Policy in 2005.
Philip loved all sports, especially hockey, which he played for St. Paul's College while attending university. He had a soft spot in his heart for all animals, but mostly his dog Mikey.
His heart resided in Petersfield where he spent summer weekends fishing, cutting grass and relaxing with family and friends. He loved to travel in the winter to warmer climates, but his favourite destination was Buccerias, Mexico. He was known to adopt animals while there on holiday.
The family offers heartfelt thanks for the care and attention from the staff at Actionmarguerite (Foyer Valade) over the past three and one half years.
Cremation has taken place and funeral service will be held at EJ Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street, on Wednesday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg MB R3T 0R3, or to Actionmarguerite St. Vital, 450 River Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4.

I am sorry to hear of Phil's passing. I have great memories dating back as far as my childhood years of times spent with the Bonin family, both in Winnipeg and at the lake. Phil, rest in peace. See you in the future in heaven. Ray - Posted by: Ray Despins (Cousin) on: Jan 23, 2020

My condolences to Dianne and the Bonin family. I worked with Phil in the Research Branch, Department of Labour in the 1970's. Phil was kind, patient and generous of spirit to me when I was just starting in my work career. I fondly remember outings at the family cottage in Petersfield. As I moved on I lost touch with Phil but will always remember those early days when we were all young. Louise (Cooper) Adams - Posted by: Louise (Cooper) Adams (co-worker and friend) on: Jan 18, 2020
