HOPE CARROLL
Hope was born to Ingibjorg Eyvindson and Bjorn (Gestsson) Christianson in Langruth, Manitoba on August 3, 1927. She graduated with a Home Economics degree from the University of Manitoba and organized her class reunion every year for decades. Hope was an active member of the University Women's Club and an avid bridge player, world traveller and Scrabble mastermind. Along with her husband, she was deeply engaged in politics. Hope was known for her generous hospitality, regularly entertaining friends and family. What her family will miss most is the time spent every summer at Clearwater Lake to celebrate the great matriarch's birthday. Her children and grandchildren regularly travelled from around the world to be together and share stories, heated political debates, and raucous laughter over cocktails every afternoon at 5:00 p.m. sharp.
Hope was predeceased by her husband Jack Carroll; son John Carroll; and brothers, Conrad, Arden and John Christianson. Hope is survived by her children, Sally (Bob), Peter (Carolyn) and Catherine; grandchildren, Joe, Julie, Jane (Jon), Crystal (Pablo), Maegan, Alexander, Gillian (Bethany), Louise (Shane), Mark (Kristie), Austin (Jessica) and John; and great-grandchildren, Aila, Shaenen, Kiviuk, Connor, Sura, Harrison, Jack, Riley, Elizabeth, Toben, Katherine, Margo, Simone, Ezekiel, Esbin and Frankie Hope. Hope's memory will be forever treasured by her family and countless friends.
Friends and relatives are encouraged to share in a photo-tribute, eulogy, stories and condolences for the family by visiting Hope's memorial page at EthicalDeathCare.com
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2020 at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Pete and family. I'd run into Hope on her long walks and I was delivering the mail. Also in high school she always enhanced my lunch when Pete brought me to the house during our lunch break. I witnessed first hand her wisdom and grace. - Posted by: Mike Silman (Friend) on: Jan 17, 2020
