HJORDIS AUD OVERGAARD
Hjordis - A Proud Norwegian Canadian
She is lovingly and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada.
Hjordis spent most of her life at the Overgaard family home on Sprague Street, where family gatherings created many memories, usually entertaining those present with her amazing piano playing. She was our Liberace!! She used her musical skills as an organist and pianist for years, gracing many halls and churches. Every problem seemed to have a work-around and humour often lit the way to a solution. Her laughter was contagious and her four brothers usually had a contest to see who could set her off first.
Hjordis spent her working years first as a secretary and, after qualifying, then as a teacher at Tec Voc and Daniel Mac. She never wasted time in disappointment or despair, never losing the friendly positive wit that endeared her to so many. Aunt Hjordis was one of the sweetest and most generous people we had the pleasure and honour to call "Family."
Special thanks to the outstanding staff at West Park Manor.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, April 11, 2020, 2:00 p.m., at the Scandinavian Centre, 764 Erin St., Winnipeg.

I first met Hjordis as a young boy when our family moved to Winnipeg and joined Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in 1950. She taught Sunday school and had a twinkle in her eye as she caught me goofing off. Later in life I am now a CPA and we reconnected as I was able to provide her with professional services. She was the same happy person with an infectious laugh. I will miss the person who, outside of my family, has known me the longest. - Posted by: Robert Tollefson (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2020
