It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister Mavis after a courageous four year battle with dementia. Dementia is a debilitating disease that robs a person of their memory in a painful, slow process.
Mavis was predeceased by her father Lyall; mother Louise; brother Ronald; sister Sharron; and brother Dean.
She is survived by brother Robert and brother Harold. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In Mavis's younger years she took great care to look after members of her family. She always ensured that all members of her family had a small gift for birthdays and Christmas, especially her nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was to organize a weekend marathon of board games and her favourite country music.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg, MB at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens located at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd, Winnipeg, MB.
Special thanks to the nursing staff and caregivers of the 2nd floor South, West Park Manor Personal Care Home, who extended medical care as well as friendship.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • So sorry to hear that Mavis has passed away. While visiting her ward we never missed an opportunity to bug each other. She delighted in getting me in the ribs with her pointed little finger and I responded with a tap on her head. I miss that, she was a fun lady. - Posted by: Dave Green (acquaintance) on: Feb 13, 2020

  • Our deepest condolences to Bob and family. Mavis was a most special and caring lady, a wonderful neighbor. She cared deeply for all those she loved. Mavis was such a lover of animals, she had a kind word and pats for all of our dogs and they all loved her. She is missed. Rest In Peace Mavis. ❤️ - Posted by: Marge and Bill (Neighbors) on: Jan 23, 2020

  • Our condolences to Mavis's family. We only knew Mavis for a few months at West Park Manor (Mother in Law in 2 South since Sept) - she always had a smile for us and would always sit beside me when we were in the common room. She will be missed - Posted by: Gary & Audrey (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2020

  • Deepest sympathy to Bob, and Family. We’re so happy we got to visit with Mavis when we were in Winnipeg in June. We have many happy memories of Christmases past, and Mavis’s huge enthusiasm for cards and games. Guess Mavis is having a good game of cards with Sharron now! Rest In Peace sweet lady, it was our pleasure to have known you. Paul and Jean Krepps - Posted by: Paul and Jean Krepps (Friends) on: Jan 18, 2020
