RICHARD LORNE PARSONS
The youngest child and only son of Albert and Gertrude (nee Norquay) Parsons, Richard was born on October 28, 1931 and grew up in the Norwood area of St. Boniface. He attended Princess Elizabeth School, where he was valedictorian of his graduating class. He earned his designation as a Chartered Accountant on December 20, 1956, spending his early career with William Gray and Sons and Price Waterhouse. He would go on to a distinguished career with James Richardson and Sons, eventually rising all the way to the position of Treasurer by the time of his well-earned retirement.
Richard married the love of his life, Marjorie Chant, on July 30, 1957, with whom he celebrated his 62nd anniversary in 2019. Richard was at his happiest at the family cottage at Moose Lake, where he enjoyed boating, tending to the garden with Marjorie, and watching the waves and sunsets with his grandchildren.
When not at the cottage, he could be found in the driveway polishing and fixing one of his prized Chevys. He loved old cars, building things, and every kind of fix-it project. He enjoyed life's simple pleasures; a tremendously kind and supportive soul, he was always eager to raise a toast to the achievements of those he loved over a glass of wine.
Survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie; son Robert; daughter Nancy (Gerald) Hogue; five grandchildren, Robert (Christina), Bradley (Shayla), Daniel (Laura), Jeremy and Hailey Hogue; great-granddaughter Emeliah Hogue; sisters-in-law, Edith Chant and Reeva Chant; eight nephews and nieces and their families.
Predeceased by his parents; sister Jacqueline Wood; brothers-in-law, Henry Wood, Orval Chant and Clifford Chant; and one niece.
The family would like to thank Richard's home care aides, particularly Pam and Julie, and the staff at Seven Oaks and Misericordia who cared for him in his final days.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.
Cheers to you, dad! We love you.
Contributions in Richard's name can be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation or a charity of choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)
Richard hired me from Price Waterhouse as Assistant Controller of Richardson Securities of Canada in 1962, not long after he joined Richardson's. Not only a great person, he was a great boss, so well respected by everyone. We had an excellent relationship and enjoyed years of lunches at the Carleton Club. When he "moved upstairs" to James Richardson & Sons, I took his place as Chief Financial Officer of the Securities Division. Whatever success I achieved in my career in the investment industry, I owe to Richard. We more or less lost contact over the years but I would bump into him occasionally shopping at Safeway with Marjorie. He did not change much except that his familiar slick blacked hair turned white! Such a wonderful man with so many great qualities. I can never forget him & know how dearly he will be missed. Rees Jones - Posted by: REES JONES (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2020
