1930 - 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Elizabeth Cheetham (Kitsch) on January 14, 2020, at the age of 89 years.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her three children: daughter Barbara Schmidt of Langenberg, SK, and two sons of Winnipeg, Barry and Keith (Judy), six grandchildren, Tammy, Dale (Frances), Devin (Nikki), Darren (Erin), Michael (Chantel) and Kevin (Taigan); great-grandchildren, Caleb, Claire, Gina, Jake, Luke, Alexa, Ava, Kylie, Pasey, Joey, Aubrey and Nolan. Mom is also survived by her brother Calvin Kitsch of Alberta and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Fred in 2003 and her siblings, Mervin Kitsch, Erna Giest, Bertha Haberman, Norma Dunkley and Earl Kitsch. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law Dale Schmidt.
Alice was one of seven children born to Adam and Elizabeth Kitsch. She was born in McNutt, Saskatchewan on February 2, 1930. She moved to Winnipeg with her sisters when she was a young lady and met the love of her life, Fred Cheetham. They were married on June 18, 1955 and together they raised their three children. The time spent with family was truly priceless to Mom and if she had it her way all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren would have lived in Winnipeg. After Dad's passing, June 28, 2003, her home continued to be the hub of the family until her move to Fred Douglas Lodge in March of 2015 where she lived until her passing.
We would like to thank the staff on Maple Wing of Fred Douglas Lodge for caring for Mom and especially helping us through a very delicate time.
Funeral services will take place on January 21, 2020 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Just officiating.
Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made in Alice's honour to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2528 King Edward Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2E6 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
