March 19, 1934 - January 11, 2020

Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep in order to meet her Lord, at Elkwood Manor, Elkhorn, MB; with her husband of 54 years, Albert, holding her hand. We can all hear her say "I can finally breathe again!"
Family that left Margaret before her included her parents, Bill and Rita (nee Mearns) Crawford of Winnipeg, as well as her little sister Doreen who sadly left us very young.
Margaret is survived by her loving children, Daniel, Patrick (Kelly), William and Loralee (Lori), grandchildren, April, Nicholas, Adam and Christopher, as well as extended family in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and other parts of Canada and the U.S.
Margaret was born and raised in Winnipeg and had a wonderful childhood surrounded by a large family of uncles, aunties and cousins who adored her. She loved her dog Princie who loved her right back. Her parents taught her to be independent and she went straight to work for CN after high school. Margaret moved extensively as a young woman and having survived a float plane crash travelling from Northern Manitoba, she met and then married Albert in 1965. As a banker's wife, Margaret lived in many towns including Fort Frances and Emo, ON, as well as Lynn Lake, Thompson, Lundar, Virden and lastly Elkhorn, MB in 1987. Her favourite town was Atikokan, ON (1969 to 1978) where she met so many friends and had such a rich and fulfilling life raising her children and enjoying many activities.
But Margaret's favourite spot was sitting in her chair and looking out over beautiful Macara Lake at Ingolf, ON where her family first laid down roots in 1923. Margaret loved to talk about her time there when she was physically unable to travel.
Margaret is a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend to all of those that she touched. She always put others first, always insisted on respect and humour, and ensured that everyone she touched was put at ease and was allowed to be their best. Margaret loved cross-country skiing, scrabble and Coronation Street!
The family would very much like to thank all of those who loved and cared for Mom at the Elkwood Manor in Elkhorn where she spent the last five years of ailing health.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has commenced and a private family service has been held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Ingolf, as well as interment with her parents at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ingolf Campers Association Fire Department or to Elkwood Manor Ladies Auxiliary.
