NANCY ENSIGN

On Saturday, December 14, 2019, Nancy passed away in her home and was ushered into the presence of her Lord whom she loved. Surrounding her was her husband and family; daughter-in-law Jocelyn; and granddaughter Haylee Ensign.
Nancy was born in Ferndale, WA, on July 3, 1941. Her home was three miles from town and she remembered walking to school as a young girl. When they moved to Bellingham, WA, her school was only a block away. How easy can this be she thought. I must be in Heaven.
Nancy always looked forward to her grandother's visits who had been a missionary in China, but run out of the nation when the Communists took control. She and her sister Sharon would listen with rapt attention as her grandmother would tell of some of the miracles which happened to them in China.
Nancy wanted to attend a Christian high school so by bus she travelled from Washington State to Fergus Falls, MN. She remembered working to pay her way through high school and experiencing the cold midwest winter.
Nancy graduated from the Hillcrest Lutheran Academy high school in Fergus Falls, MN and then attending the Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, AB. After marriage she and Elvin moved to Winnipeg, MB to minister with The International Ministries to Israel where she was secretary for the mission until her health gave out.
She had a genuine love for the Jewish people. A Holocaust survivor showed her the tattoo on his arm which he rarely spoke about and told of the death camp. Her Jewish friends looked upon her as a person of trust.
Besides working for the mission for many years, she raised her family while her husband was often away on mission trips. It was up to Nancy to raise and discipline three sons and one daughter, Mark, David, Paul and Michelle, who all have contributed to the betterment of Canadian society.
Her hobbies were reading, cooking, crocheting and teaching Sunday school. Some of the crotcheted hats, scarves and angels made their way into Winipeg, Gimli and Flin Flon homes.

Her favourite charity was Samaritan Purse.
