It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mum and Gramma, Joyce King, who peacefully went to be with her Lord and Saviour on January 20, 2020.
While we are heartbroken to lose our Mum, we know that our Mum and Dad have been reunited once again, which brings us great joy.
Mum was a strong woman of faith who taught us all what it meant to be truly loved. Mum was always our number one, steadfastly loyal fan who stood by us in good times and in bad. She was never afraid to go to bat for anyone who was important to her!
One of Mum's greatest joys was becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother, roles that she was incredible at! Mum was a gifted knitter and she used that skill to make each and every one of her grandchildren something beautiful that they will always treasure.
A poem that meant a lot to mum was "Footprints in the Sand", in which the last verse reads; "My precious, precious child, I love you, and I will never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering when there were only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you". Those words most certainly gave Mum comfort in her last days and will continue to give her family and loved one's comfort in the days ahead.
Joyce will be greatly missed by her family, but we are so thankful for the legacy that both Mum and Dad have left for us. Mum was predeceased by our dad, her husband Robert of over 65 years. She is survived by their children; Robert (Pat), Sandra (Gary), Andrew (Debbie) and Valerie (Michael). In addition, Gramma greatly loved her grandchildren, Lauren (Joel), Rob, Margaret (Terry), Kathleen, William, Jennifer (Fredy), Kaitlyn (Jarred), Ashley (Gabe), Emma, Alexander and Samuel; and her great-grandchildren, Rory, Arlo, Breanne, Micah, Anthony, Jeremiah, Isaac, Sophia, Benjamin and Aiden.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joyce's life.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the M. S. Society.
