SIGURROS (ROSE) MAGNUSSON

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Rose Magnusson passed away peacefully on January 26, 2020.
Rose will be sadly missed by her children, Brian, Cheryl, Lesley (Bob) and Ingrid (Jens), grandchildren, Paige, Johannes, Myles (Hayley), Maren, and new great-granddaughter Marlo.
Rose was predeceased by her parents, Tryggvi and Runa Snifeld, her in-laws, Grimsi and Sigga Magnusson, sister Lillian (Freeman), and brother Albert (June)
Mom was born on the family farm at Hnausa (Nyibaer) on November 1, 1931, the youngest of three children. During her youth she loved school and sports especially baseball and the races at Islendingadagurrin. After high school she worked on Lake Winnipeg in fishing camps. Rose and Joe were married November 10, 1951 and were happily married for 64 years. Together they raised their four children in Gimli. Mom was a wonderful and devoted homemaker and her love was always family. She was a proud Amma and especially enjoyed all gatherings with her children and grandchildren. Mom loved all animals and enjoyed knitting, curling, and was active in the Legion ladies auxiliary and Lutheran church. Together with Dad they enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with close friends, wintering in Arizona and travelling.
Mom will be remembered for her warm smile, compassion and kindness. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, Amma and Long Amma. She touched many hearts.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Betel Home for their kindness and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Gimli charity of choice.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gimli Lutheran Church, 50-3rd Ave.
