JAMES MACPHEE
Left to cherish Jim's memory are his children, Dr. Sean McPhee and Dr. Stacy McPhee, and son-in-law Dr. Sourabh Maiti; brothers, Gerard (Nicole), Ron (Rolande) and David, twin brother John (Diana), sister Deb (Chuck), nephews and nieces, Cory, Nadine, Christophe, Eric, Nicholas, Rick, Jason, Ryan, Heather, and their families.
Jim will also be missed tremendously by his mother-in-law Agnes Berthelette, brothers-in-law, Jerome (Carmen), Les (Shannon) and Lionel (Tracey), nieces, Veronica and Courtney, and their families. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Albert, his father-in-law Morris Berthelette, sister-in-law Debbie McPhee, and his loving wife of 30 years, Michelle.
Jim was the pillar of the family and after Michelle's passing it was just "the three of them" as they shared an innate camaraderie. He particularly cherished time together, sharing in experiences, such as a memorable trip with Sean and Stacy to Cancun, a father/son trip to see Paul Simon and the Twins in Minneapolis, as well as the numerous Jets games he attended with Stacy. Jim also took great pride in his children's many achievements. His proudest moments were witnessing Sean and Stacy graduate from University of Manitoba's Faculty of Medicine. He loved his children with a passion that encompassed his life.
Jim was a family man who took great joy in bringing those he loved together. He had an ability to liven up a room and a knack for making people laugh. His meat pies at family gatherings were legendary and a favourite parting gift for those who were fortunate. His generous nature was reflected in his passion for feeding and spending time with those he loved.
Jim's legacy can be described by his incredible inner strength and courage when faced with his difficult cancer diagnosis six years ago. His resilience, tenacity and zest for life encourage us all to appreciate that each day is a gift. His unconditional love and support are everlasting.
We will miss Jim beyond what will feel humanly possible and he will live within us, and around us, forever. We take solace only in knowing he is not suffering, and trust he knew how much he was loved.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Jim's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

I just learned of Jim’s passing, so very sad to hear. I worked with both Jim and John in the Officer’s Mess back in the 80’s. What a wacky but great time that was. I have nothing but fond memories. Jim left us way too soon. I offer my deepest and sincerest condolences to Jim’s family and friends…especially to John his twin. Salutè Weebo - Posted by: Ken Wiebe (Former Co-Worker) on: Jul 04, 2024

Miss you everyday bro. It’s not the same and I’m sure we’ll see you in the after-life. Until then, keep the beer cold! - Posted by: John MacPhee (Twin brother) on: Aug 21, 2022

A lovely tribute to Jim. My condolences go out to his children, and siblings. He certainly will be missed by all. Yes, he had a great sense of humour and was a lot of fun. Unfortunately I never received one of his meat pies but I have no doubt they were delicious. (I moved to BC about 30yrs ago so did not see Jim and his family for many years. But knew him from the time he was about 6 yrs old.) - Posted by: Denise Desrochers (Friend) on: Feb 01, 2020

I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I had the great privilege of working for him when he was the kitchen supervisor/chef At Lions Manor in the late 90s. Jim had a marvelous sense of humor and was a very kind man. I really enjoyed our time there together. He will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time. - Posted by: Bonnie brandt (Former employee ) on: Jan 29, 2020
