DIANE BOWES

With great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Diane Bowes, after a brief illness at Portage General Hospital, on January 27, 2020.
Diane was predeceased in 2018 by Keith, her husband of 61 years, and by her parents, Frederick and Frances Paterson, and siblings, Roddy, Kay, Beatrice, Viola, Jimmy, Ricky and Anne.
Diane is survived by her children, Elita, Shelly, Susanne, Robert, Leslie and their families, by her sisters, Dorothy and Pat, and her brother Billy.
Mom was born on July 23, 1938, in Winnipeg and grew up in a large, close-knit, loving family. Family was always very important to her.
Mom loved life. She welcomed any opportunity to play cards. She was an avid reader and a champion 10-pin bowler. She loved flowers, good food, travelling and Christmas. She was talented at ceramics and cake decorating.
She enjoyed any adventure, especially travelling around the rural Manitoba area visiting tea rooms for lunch with her friends, Bernie and Mabel.
She was an exceptional mother and faithful sister and friend, and she will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Herman Prior Centre, 40 Royal Road North, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1V1.
Should friends desire, a memorial contribution may be made to the Portage la Prairie Regional Library, 40-B Royal Road North, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1V1.

  • My sincere condolences to Diane's family. Diane and her sisters were wonderful "Weekender Hostesses" and became not only hostesses but friends. We always had lots of fun when we got together for our clothing parties. Diane's daughter, Shelley even became a Weekender Coordinator. I was saddened to hear of Diane's passing.
