JENNIE (GENIA) OLYNYK
(nee FEDUN)

Peacefully in her sleep, on Tuesday,
January 28, 2020, our mother and baba was welcomed into her eternal heavenly home after a well lived earthly journey of 95 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years (Miran) and her sister Lesia. She is
survived by her children, son Fred (Pauline), daughter Jo-Ann (Ihor) and her grandsons, Andrew, Michael, Paul and Michael.
Following a modest childhood, our mother enjoyed various jobs before, during and after raising her family. She gave her all to
positions ranging from a stenographer to a waitress, from a factory worker to a real
estate agent and from a home seamstress to a religious goods salesperson. Her various
employments reflected her voracious range of interests as well as her necessity to ensure her family could avoid financial barriers.
The importance of family time was
paramount to our mother. Her grandsons will forever cherish her delightful humour and unwavering support. She greatly anticipated travelling with family and friends, especially relishing winter escapes to Hawaii.
Our mother delighted in vegetable and rose gardening, and was so proud when she achieved the court of honour in local flower competitions. She savoured picking
blueberries and wild mushrooms with family and would often marvel at the beauty of the outdoors. Indoors, she would find joy in
crocheting or knitting for her grandsons or various charities.
Ukrainian culture and traditions
intertwined with a strong sense of faith, were very important to our mother. She was an
active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church since the 1950's and thoroughly enjoyed her involvement with the Women's League.
Words cannot adequately express our
gratitude to the health care aides, nurses, doctors and spiritual care givers of St. Paul's Ward at Holy Family Nursing Home. Their angelic daily efforts for the past three years of our mother's life has touched us for the
remainder of our lives.
Funeral service will take place on Monday, February 3, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion St., Winnipeg with Father Darren Kawiuk
officiating.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Olynyk,
Christopher Olynyk, Justin Olynyk, Michael Olynyk, Robert Olynyk and Paul Szelemej. Honorary pallbearer is Michael Szelemej
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Family Nursing Home, Winnipeg
Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
