MARGARET ALLISON HOPPE
(nee MACIVER)
AKA Margot or Marg
June 4, 1940 - December 4, 2019
Marg attended St. James Collegiate and Mount Allison University. Upon her return to Winnipeg she was accepted as an Air Canada flight attendant. In 1961 her sister persuaded her, instead, to join her hitch hiking through Europe for one year. In Spain she met her future husband who later became U.S. Lt. Colonel Jerry Hoppe. Marg returned home later to work at the Hudson Bay record department to care for our ill mother and volunteer at the 'Big Sister Association'.
In 1963 Marg and Jerry Hoppe married and left to live in California; then Germany where they travelled extensively. Upon Jerry's retirement from the U.S. Air Force they moved to build a beautiful home near the Arkansas River outside of Ponca City, Oklahoma. There, Marg became very involved with Linda's daughter, Linda Jenkins (David, since deceased) and her family from Enid, Oklahoma.
Marg has left behind her brother Harold MacIver; niece Wendy MacIver; sister Judy MacIver; niece Kim Roffey (John); great-nephews, Luke and Nate Roffey; and the wonderful Jenkins family.
As per Marg's wishes, cremation has taken place and a beautiful memorial service was held by the Jenkins family in Marg's backyard. There, her ashes were spread as were her husbands in 2009. These all were her wishes.
There will be no formal service. If you so desire, please contribute to the Manitoba Lung Association and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
