STUART DONALD MCNABB
Mourning his loss is his wife of 36 years, Ellen, as well as his children, Alexander and Carlyn; mother Marlene; sister Leslie (Phil); brother Gordon (Marlene); sisters-in-law, Nancy and Margaret (Brian) and numerous relatives. He was predeceased by his father Gordon.
Stu is remembered fondly by his family and friends for his sharp wit and ability to find humour in almost any situation. He had a big heart and loved animals, doting on his pets as well as any squirrels, chipmunks and bunnies that lived in his yard. He was known for his fairness, generous soul and headstrong spirit, which continued despite years of declining health.
His intelligence and hard work in the business world allowed him the opportunity to move around the world with his family. He developed lasting friendships in Vancouver, Sydney and Toronto. He was always happiest when he came back home, spending time with his family at the cottage in Ignace, or his annual fishing trip with Ross Church and Jeff Gough to Lac Seul.
Special thank you to the ICMS team at St. Boniface Hospital for their wonderful care.
Details for a Celebration of Life will be announced in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, we are encouraging online donations to Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank (winnipegharvest.org/donate).

I worked for Stuart at the Winnipeg Branch of BRINKS. He was a firm but fair manager to work for. I was always very respectful towards Stuart, and in return, he treated me very well. When he learned I was moving to Edmonton for school, he arranged a job for me with the Edmonton Branch. He made it clear to me I had a job waiting in Winnipeg during summer breaks. I will always remember that extremely thoughtful gesture. Stuart was a 100% Class Act, my sincerest condolences to his family. Rest In Peace, Stuart. - Posted by: Ron Reutcky (Former employee) on: Feb 16, 2023

Sadly, i just learned of Stu's passing yesterday. We attended high school together at Miles Mac in Winnipeg & lived a few streets apart. He could appear tough on the outside but had a kind heart. He had a great sense of humour & always kept us laughing. Although I have not seen Stu for many years, I am saddened to know that he was ill & that he has passed away. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace Stu. Gone too soon. - Posted by: Debbie Jumaga (School friend) on: Apr 12, 2020

I know Stuart as a regular customer at Sobeys- I'm a supervisor...when I first noticed Stuart I never knew how to read him - was he joking??? Was he just an angry customer??? Was he being serious??? Was he being sarcastic??? Well, as I waited on him more frequently I got to know him better...and the reason I warmed up to him was because through conversation I must've mentioned that my mom had had cancer at that time, and EVERY SINGLE DAY after that conversation, Stuart asked about my mom and how she was doing...this man, who I thought may have had a heart hard as rock showed such sympathy the day I told him my mom passed away...I will never forget those genuine tokens of kindness...I hope it's ok that i shared my story but i hope it brings you some good feelings...I wish all the best of memories to your family at this time...Kristina Markus - Posted by: Kristina Markus (Acquaintance ) on: Feb 06, 2020

Ellen & family - Bev and I were deeply saddened to learn of Stuart's passing. We have fond recollections of our times together with the two of you and your wonderful hospitality in Winnipeg, White Rock, Sydney and Burlington. Stuart was tremendously witty, free-spirited, caring and generous. He was an outstanding operating executive and I always slept well knowing he was in charge in Australia. May he rest in peace and you find comfort in your many great memories and knowledge of his love for you all. - Posted by: David Garton (Colleague at Brink's) on: Feb 04, 2020

My condolences to the McNabb family on the passing of Stuart, we met in 1980, hired at the same time at Brinks Canada ltd. We worked as co-workers for many years, a funny guy with a great sense of humor which made the day interesting and unpredictable, Stuart was a man with strong morals, great character and high family family values, as years went by Stuart climbed the corporate ladder at Brinks which opened new doors and opportunities, for himself and his family, but he always stayed in touch with fellow co-workers, I was able over the last year to reconnect with Stuart and we talked and met occasionally, although with declining health issues he remained the same person I met years ago, rest in peace Stuart. - Posted by: steve t bernas (co-worker and friend) on: Feb 02, 2020

Stuart wasn't always the easiest boss to work for but he was always fair and supportive. Lot of good memories of him and the money room at Brinks. - Posted by: Edna Peters (Employee at Brinks when Stuart was the Manager) on: Feb 01, 2020

I had the pleasure of working with Stuart and always looked forward to the next opportunity to get together with him. He had a kind gentleness along with a razor sharp wit that made him one of the most interesting people I have known. We had many great evenings eating Sushi and competing to see who could consume the most wasabi, ending with us almost passing out from the affects. Stuart was a fiercely competitive person, and I appreciated that he kept me on my toes. He was also a friend I admired and respected. Unfortunately I lost touch with Stuart over the years and it breaks my heart to know I will never sit down with him and laugh until it hurts ever again. I miss you my dear friend. - Posted by: Gerald Moodie (Co-worker) on: Feb 01, 2020

I knew STUART when he was a student of mine at Miles Macdonnel Collegiate in Winnipeg Manitoba. What a funny, goofy guy he was ; such a delight to know. One of my fondest memories is when I was coaching STUART on the Badminton team. If the birdie was coming to his backhand, he would simply switch his racquet over to his left hand and carry on brilliantly. He was a fierce competitor but still infused his humor making it all such a fun experience. I would hope that in all his years of poor health, he would occasionally look back on those days with a smile on his face. Rest in Peace Stu. - Posted by: Shirley Dudeck (Former teacher) on: Feb 01, 2020
