December 16, 1942 - January 26, 2020
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Glen Kingsley at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.
Glen will be missed and forever loved by his wife Donna (the love of his life); children, Brian (Jaye) Kingsley and Sandra (Jamie) Johnson; grandchildren, Clara and Molly Kingsley, Daniel and Ally Johnson; sister Shirley Sigurdson; mother-in-law Jean Laing; brothers-in-law Sheldon Simpson and David (Doreen) Barton; along with numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends and neighbours.
He was predeceased by his father and mother Robert and Ina Kingsley, sister Ethel Barton, father-in-law John Laing, brother-in-law Jon Sigurdson, and sister-in-law Patricia Simpson.
Glen was born in Eriksdale and lived on the farm in the Clydebank District. He attended Clydebank and Eriksdale schools. In the 1960's he worked on power lines in Canada and the United States. Through his years working away he would often return in the spring and fall to help his dad with the farming. In the mid 70's he returned to Eriksdale to farm with his dad.
Glen and Donna married in 1979 and established their home in Clydebank and farmed together until his passing. His life was the farm. After selling the cattle in 2012, they enjoyed their winter vacations while continuing to grain farm in the remaining seasons. Glen served on the board of the Eriksdale Credit Union and one term as a Councillor in the former R.M. of Eriksdale. He enjoyed his curling, old time dances and going for drives.
He was a strong supporter of his community. He always found time for coffee with anyone who dropped by and was always willing to lend a hand to his friends and neighbours.
He was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. The grandchildren were the joy of his life.
We will miss his wit, jokes and teasing and will always be thankful for his love, support and the lessons he taught us.
A memorial service to honour Glen's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the Eriksdale Recreation Centre with Rev. David Fielder officiating. A luncheon will follow. A family interment will be held at a later date in the Nord Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tam and Nurse Practitioner Rose from the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic and staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care. Also thanks to Dr. Soliman from the Eriksdale Clinic and to John and Karen Gray of Arnason Funeral Home for all their help and support.
