REGINALD (REG) NOSEWORTHY

On the evening of February 2, 2020, the world lost a gentleman and a gentle man, Reginald Noseworthy. Reg passed away peacefully, surrounded and comforted by family members and friends, at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg.
Reg was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Cassie; and his precious grandniece, Katrina Galarnyk.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, Suzette Lacroix; stepsons, Daniel Monnin (Michelle), Christian Monnin (Karine); five grandchildren, Samuel, Gabrielle, Zacharie, Elodie and Clara; his siblings, Howard (Beulah) of Mt. Pearl, NL and Labrador, NL, Loretta Reid (Ray) of Corner Brook, NL, and Linda Roche (Jim) of Corner Brook, NL; as well as his many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
Reg was born in Corner Brook, NL, on August 18, 1940, where he spent his childhood and teen years. He was proud to call Corner Brook home.
After graduating from high school in 1958, Reg attended Memorial University in St. John's, NL, UNB in Fredericton, and the Technical University of Nova Scotia (TUNS) in Halifax, where he graduated in 1969 with a Masters in Industrial Engineering. During this period, he also worked for the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador, first in the summer during his time off from school, and for two additional years, while he worked towards completing his degree at TUNS.
In 1964, Reg married his first wife, Kay Gardner. He spent the next five years in Sept-Iles, Quebec. After leaving Sept-Iles, Reg became a management consultant and executive, where his work took him from the Maritimes to Manitoba. Throughout his career, he worked in a variety of fields, using his many talents and skills to the benefit of numerous employers, such as the Government of New Brunswick; the Mercantile Bank of Canada in Montreal; Aloha Yachts, a boat manufacturer in Toronto; InterCity Gas Corporation, and later, as a management consultant. Reg also dedicated countless hours to community and charitable organizations.
Reg had many friends whom he endeared with his sense of humour, and his casual, friendly and positive outlook on life. Despite the miles that kept them apart, Reg was especially close to and cherished his Corner Brook lifelong friends, Dave Humber and John Brake.
Reg loved his life in Winnipeg and his wide circle of friends. Reg was an active member of the St. Charles Golf and Country Club, where he became a competent and very enthusiastic golfer. He was also a member of the Manitoba Club.
Reg married Suzette on his 60th birthday, claiming that, this way, he would always remember their anniversary. Together they enjoyed laughing, travelling, celebrating with friends and family, and spending time with their grandchildren, while enjoying his scotch and wine.
We are sincerely grateful to the many friends who were there to visit and support both Reg and Suzette throughout, and specifically during, the last three years of Reg's life, while he confronted many health challenges. Despite these struggles, Reg did not complain and always maintained that he was "better than most".
A special thanks to the skilled and gracious medical professionals who provided care to Reg during his lengthy illness, and specifically Riverview 3E, who provided compassionate care and emotional support to both Reg and Suzette in his final months.
A celebration of Reg's life will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit 3E, in Reg's honour.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to the entire family for the their loss. I also apologize I couldn't be there today to join in the celebration of life and pay my respects. I am traveling on business and it couldn't be rescheduled. I really enjoyed chatting with Reg on our visits. He was a kind, good man. - Posted by: Thomas Payne (family by marriage) on: Feb 10, 2020

  • My childhood memories are filled with wonderful memories of Uncle Reg’s lightheartedness, his wacky humor and always-ALWAYS a smile on his face. He was always so much fun to be around when I was a child. I never ever heard him say a cross word, I heard him tell a lot of tall tales, but never an angry word! I am so grateful for my childhood memories of him. - Posted by: Krista Elliott (Niece) on: Feb 09, 2020

  • Dear Suzette & family We are very saddened for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve Reg's loss and mourn his absence in your lives. May you always treasure the memories that you have made and shared with Reg. - Posted by: Claudette Moquin (school mate at St. Joseph's Academy) on: Feb 09, 2020

  • My father, Harold, worked with Uncle Walt, Reg's father, in Hampden, NL. As children, we often went to the machine shop where our dads worked and managed to get those shiny ball bearings, which we so coveted. I remember, too, how we loved reading the "Uncle Wiggly" books. In 1958, we were at Memorial University as well, my first year, his second, he came to our house often for that home cooked meal. As the years went by, we didn't stay in touch as much as we should have and much to my regret. Reg was one year older than me, but as children we were the greatest of friends, buddies really. To Suzette and family my sincere condolences. - Posted by: Edwina Suley (Cousin) on: Feb 09, 2020

  • Condolences to the Noseworthy family and friends. Reg was my Uncle who was "Better than Most". Reg always made me feel welcome when and where ever we got together. Reg was the master of ceremonies for our wedding and kept our celebration lively. Our last time together when I visited Reg and Suzette in Winnipeg was full of laughter as we got caught up since the last time we were together. Reg was one of a kind, will be missed but not forgotten. RIP Craig Demaray - Posted by: Craig Demaray (Nephew ) on: Feb 09, 2020

  • Suzette, so sorry for your loss. I would be at the memorial but we are away at that time. You and the family are in our thoughts. - Posted by: Ardith and Mac Davidson (Friend) on: Feb 08, 2020

  • Got to spend some extended time with Uncle Reg in Montreal and in Winnipeg on several occasions in my 20’s. Truly loved hanging out with him. Always stories to share, laughs to be had and scotch to enjoy. After moving back to the east coast in the late 80’s, the time we spent together was less frequent but we still managed to stay connected. He knew the importance of family. One of my favourite sayings is: “Those we love and lose are always connected by heartstrings into infinity.” We will always be connected to you, Uncle Reg. Love you. - Posted by: Kathryn Noseworthy (Niece ) on: Feb 08, 2020

  • Sorry to hear of Reg’s passing, Cherish the memories ❤️ - Posted by: Verna Northcott (Family Friend) on: Feb 08, 2020

  • Suzette we will always remember the great times we enjoyed with Reg. Probably the most memorable was our trip to Newfoundland where he was the outstanding tour guide. - Posted by: Gordon & Susan Horne (Friend) on: Feb 08, 2020
