MARGARET SAWATZKY
(REDEKOPP)
1923 -2020

Our dear mother passed away January 22, 2020, at the age of 97.
Mom was from a large family and learned early in life how to be a hard worker and loving caregiver. Mom enjoyed being in the kitchen with her mom where she learned how to provide for family and care for all the chores of farm life. She worked hard and followed the fine examples her parents set. Mom was also raised with respect for God, and that would stay with her all her life. In 1941 Mom met John. They would marry later that year and were together for 74 years. They raised a family of eight children and showed us what true commitment and love meant. Dad spent long days working to provide for our family's material needs and Mom worked hard at home. She was very conscientious and made sure we were well taken care of. Her day started early baking bread and doing chores late into the night.
Mom started to study the Bible in the mid 1950s, and she finally found the answers to her questions about the world she lived in. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in July 1959. She felt that this was one of the most important decisions she ever made. Mom never missed an opportunity to tell others about the Bible truths that she was learning. She worked very hard to follow the direction in Jehovah's word the Bible which helped her become a better sister, wife and mother. She also put forth much effort to help us children to appreciate our creator and to follow His direction. We all try diligently to follow Mom's fine example. Her being a loving wife to Dad was rewarded when he too studied the Bible, made the truth his own and was baptized. Until her final breath Mom remained true to her commitment to follow Jehovah's direction found in His word. One of her firm beliefs was that suffering and eventual death, something so many of her loved ones and friends went through, was not God's original plan. Revelations 21:4 was a scripture she longed to see fulfilled, it says, "And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Mom looked forward to when Jehovah would once again return the earth to its original condition. And those who have died would have the opportunity to have life in a paradise here on earth in the very near future.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Abram and Margaretha Redekopp, many of her siblings, her husband John in 2016 and son-in-law, Louis in 2017. She is survived by her children, John (Pat), Abe (Dale), Margaret (Don), Mary, David (Sheila), Ben (Kim), Frank (Donene) and Myrna, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom was very thankful for the love and support shown to her right up to her last day. We are looking forward to seeing Mom and Dad soon.
A memorial service will be held today in Langley, BC where Mom and Dad lived for over 20 years.
