PHYLLIS ANN BINDA
(nee WAYTOWICH)
1935 - 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Ann Binda (nee Waytowich) announce her passing on Friday, February 7, 2020, at the Carman Memorial Hospital at the age of 84 years.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her son, Doug (Kirsten); two grandchildren, Michael and Leanne Reichhoff (Joey); and her four great grandchildren, Oskar, Mischa, Henry and Rowan. She will also be remembered by her sisters, Olga Neskar and Annette Gongos (Hank); and sisters-in-law, Margaret Waytowich and Shirley Binda; brother-in-law Angelo Binda (Marlene); cousin-in-law Frank Favoni (Carol); numerous nieces; and nephews; and other family, Sharon Bentley and her son Derrek. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Johnny, in 2016; brothers, Ernie and Raymond; sister Alice Huget; and in-laws, Ted Neskar, Paul Binda (Olga) and Irene Allan (Bill).
Phyllis was born in Oakburn, Manitoba, on April 13, 1935, to Frank and Rose Waytowich and spent her childhood in Oakburn. She met the love of her life, Johnny, in 1956 and married him in the summer of 1959.
She had a career at Canada Post in Morden where she was a very respected employee. In her younger years, she enjoyed curling and five pin bowling and later on learned how to golf. She and Johnny spent many enjoyable days on the golf course together. Each of them would always brag about how the other person made a good shot. Phyllis and Johnny also loved to travel, enjoying many trips with family and friends.
Throughout her life, family was extremely important to her, as she loved spending time with all family members, from the very old to the very young. She was very involved and active in the Morden community, whether participating in the Kinettes Club in earlier years or palliative care and cancer care at Boundary Trails Health Centre later on. She was very involved with the church as she was active with the Catholic Woman's League and parish council for many years, singing in the choir and part of the perogy making team. Friends were also a very huge part of her life, as she was a trusted friend to many, helping whoever and whenever she could. She modelled her life as mentioned in Matthew 20:28, which states that Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve.
Mass of Resurrection was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 14, 2020, at the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Morden with inurnment at the Chapel Cemetery Columbarium.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in Phyllis' memory to the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation designated to Palliative Care.
