RUTH HELEN WALL
(nee ALBERTS)

Ruth was born in Winnipeg on July 8, 1945 and passed peacefully, with family by her side, on February 13, 2020.
Predeceased by her parents, Laurence and Doris Alberts, she leaves to mourn her husband Terry, of 52 years, son Bryan (Laura), daughter Cathy Bomhof (Jeremy), grandchildren, Luis, Grace, Lucas, Arie, Sadie, Suzanne, Nate, Jack and Izabella, and sister June (Bud) Boomer.
Mom leaves a wonderful legacy, not only in her own family but also within God's Kingdom. A prayer warrior, she poured her life into the Winnipeg Christian Community through March for Jesus, One Heart, Love Winnipeg, Pastors Prayer Network and Gateway Church.
Today, we grieve together but know that Mom is now out of pain and dancing at the foot of her dear Lord Jesus' throne. We will see you again soon, Mom!
In lieu of flowers, please go online to samaritanspurse.ca to fill a shoe box in memory of Mom. It will someday be the delight of a child in need.
We will celebrate Mom's life at Covenant Christian Reformed Church (653 Knowles Ave.) on Friday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. with a light lunch after. Interment at a later date.
Thank you St. Boniface, Riverview and Concordia Hospital staff who worked so hard to make Mom's last days comfortable.

Condolences & Memories (22 entries)

  • Terry and Family Our condolences to the family. Ruth was a friend, and for me, Scott, a mentor for prayer. As I think of the past 35-40 years and those many prayer meetings - I had the privilege to see a warrior’s heart in prayer. I quote Chelsea Patterson Sobolik - How long will my heart feel like it’s being ripped out of my body, trampled on, and then placed back? How long will I have to daily fight to see the Lord’s face? How long until these sorrows are redeemed?” Ruth lived these ‘How Long O God?’ laments daily on behalf of people, ministries, cities and nations. —Scott & Janice Hollis - Posted by: Scott & Janice Hollis (Friend) on: Feb 21, 2020

  • Ruth was my sister and partner in Christ. I just found out about Ruth's death. I am so deeply saddened for we lost a greater warrior for Jesus. Ruth knew how to work with me in March for Jesus and that in itself is a miraculous gift .. which she possessed with all people. Terry and children ... you have been the recipients Iof many years of kindness and leadership within your own home. For you can only imagine the loss!!! - Posted by: Marty Klein (Brother, friend and admirer) on: Feb 21, 2020

  • I have not seen Ruth for a long time. I saw her when she worked at Sears selling cosmetics . That I could be wrong. We were glad to see each other but went on with our own lives. My first memory was at our farm near Eriksdale. Her parents and sister, June, were staying for a weekend. Ruth was sitting in a high chair not wanting to eat.Her parents were pretty exasperated . I do believe they gave up. She was in tears and melted their hearts..That had to be about 73 years ago. When I think of Ruth I see her wonderful smile. I just wish we’d known each other more as adults. She was still too young to leave you. • Ruth, an amazing person, has so fulfilled her special calling in this life. She will be remembered and we will recall her often because her wisdom and insight she has forever deposited with us. Thank you Ruth for a life well lived. It was an honour to share your ❤️. - Posted by: Gina DeBrincat (Friend) on: Feb 21, 2020

  • She was the one who offered me a place on the national board of the March back in 1995, and then by 2003, she helped us to transition the charitable number for the March for Jesus to Canada Awakening Ministries as we continue to contend for transformation based upon the unity of believers at the local level. She has continued faithfully on the board of Canada Awakening Ministries since then, and her precious husband Terry has faithfully served as a member as well. I have greatly appreciated and benefited from her legacy, her heart for unity, and the ability to combine that with practical implementation to see a more visible expression of unity within the Body of Christ. May we all build upon that legacy, as her vision is needed in our nation now more than ever. - Posted by: Roger Armbruster (Friend) on: Feb 20, 2020

  • Dear Terry, Bryan, Cathy and families, may you feel the love of our Lord in a very special way during this very trying time. You have lost a wonderful wife and mom/grandma. My heart is sad at the loss of my dear friend. Ruth played such a pivotal role in my life so many years ago when we moved to Winnipeg. She truly impacted my life in a unique way and without a doubt, I know that she was sent to me as a servant of God. Heaven has gained a treasure. Through your tears and pain, may you know that Ruth's legacy will live on. She will not be forgotten. Sending you all much love. • My thoughts go out to Terry and the family at this time. I wish I could have spent a little more time with her in the hospital. It was nice to reconnect after so much time. There does not appear to be any rhyme or reason when we are called.... - Posted by: Randy Anderson (Friend) on: Feb 17, 2020

  • I have a great admiration and respect for this great mother of faith in our nation who four decades ago pioneered the way for women to be involved in ministry. Her love and devotion to the Lord was such an inspiration to those of us who wanted more of God. She loved the presence of God and countless women’s lives were impacted through her leaderships in Women’s Aglow back then. I remember Ruth as a perfect example of a women of passion and a prayer warrior. Her tenacity to withstand trials was admirable because of her faith in God. She will be cherished in our memories forever. Our deepest condolences to you as family, and may the love of our Lord be bestowed upon the family during this unfortunate time. - Posted by: Danyele Bloom Holtner (President of Aglow International Canada ) on: Feb 17, 2020

  • Barb and I had the privilege of working with Ruth at the elections. Her zest for life and her contagious smile always lit up the room. She was always interested in what was happening in your life and offered a friendly ear. Ruth was a gentle soul... kind, caring and loving ...a friend through and through... Our deepest condolences to you, Terry and your family... We will truly miss you Ruth - Posted by: The two Barb's (Barb Taylor & Barb Sys) (Friends) on: Feb 17, 2020

  • My heart goes out to you Terry, Bryan and Laura, and Cathy and Jeremy, and precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Blessings to you as you walk through this journey and all the tasks that need to be done this week. Ruth was an amazing woman and organizer, and could have been the Mayor of this city. She was so capable and didn’t miss a thing. Our annual trips to Fargo and Grand Forks (21 of them) are dear to our group of Diamond Girls (Ruth, Myrna, Susan, Bonnie and Cyndee and me) We had so much fun doing what we loved to do (shop that is), and sharing with each other of our lives and families. We came home exhausted but filled with love for each other. Heaven has become Ruth’s new home, and I know that we will meet again. ❤️❤️❤️ Love Judi - Posted by: Judi Reid (Friend) on: Feb 17, 2020

  • Ruth Wall was a power house as a prayer warrior! She was steadfast in her faith and her love for her husband, her children, her friends and all of Gods Children. I was honoured to have known her as a friend and awed by her accomplishments in God's army. Ruth was the kindest person and the most compassionate person to all of us and showed her concern for others by everything that she did. She was highly intelligent, a driven force for righteousness and a natural leader. These qualities drew people to her and she was always willing to take on her responsibilities of tasks that would make this a better world. God called, and Ruth said, "Here I am, Lord!" Rest in peace, dear Ruth! Offering my sincere sympathy to Terry and their children and families. Praying for all of you at this time. • Ruth was a wonderful friend, even though we hadn't seen each other much over the last decade. I remember her, at my first Women's Aglow meeting (where we met), praying over me for healing from my stomach cancer, but also for the Holy Spirit to fill me....and He did! 32 years later I am still here. The doctors had given me a 5% chance of living. After that I had the privilege of working with her on the tambourine part of the March for Jesus. Those marches were some of the highlights of my life. We'll miss you, Ruth, and we send our condolences to Terry and the family. - Posted by: Laurie Lyss (Friend) on: Feb 17, 2020

  • Our deepest Thoughts and Prayers Terry, Bryan and Laura, Cathy and Jeremy. Words can not express how we feel for each of you in your loss and the recent journey you have had. Blessings upon You. Ruth, one of my dearest friends, a Big sister to me, was Very Special. Sharing many wonderful times since our children were in PreSchool and into being Grandparents. It had been a privilege to Love and Serve the Lord together. Our Comfort of course is that we will be together again one day. I will miss her greatly. • Ruth was a mentor and a wonderful friend. We shared, strategized and battled together with others in prayer for our province and nation. I hold Ruth in high regards. I especially valued her maturity and loved how she embraced me in my early years of ministry and then through the years. She opened doors of great opportunity when we worked together for P2C, Light the TransCanada Highway as well as with the different prophetic and prayer gatherings. She was always so very encouraging. I loved her and her gentle wise ways, I loved our conversation whether in person or on the phone, she had a soft gentle way about her. You will be missed Ruth, your family is blessed to have had you and all the prayer and wisdom investments she made in you. She lives on through you! God bless - Posted by: shirley hildebrand (Friend) on: Feb 16, 2020

  • Dear dear Ruth. So many things to say, so many kindnesses and love she poured out to so many. My abundant condolences to dear Terry and her family. She poured out her life to the One who had her heart and the people of Manitoba and this nation. And she worshipped Him. And led me into the deeper levels of worshipping and praising Him no matter what. To know Him. I owe much to this radical pioneering lady, momma, sister, friend of Jesus. When my husband passed away early 6 years ago, she made sure her and Terry were there even when she was in a wheelchair because of injury. There is still so much of a bigger picture, I am sure, of what will unfold because of the secret things she and her God shared and did for much of His glory that we will see come to pass. Now, she is forever with the One she loved so much. See you someday Ruth. Thank you. - Posted by: Colleen Danchak (Sister/daughter in Christ) on: Feb 15, 2020

  • Ruth is, indeed, an amazing woman of God. To my way of thinking - she is not gone, she has simply changed locations and is now in the Presence of her Beloved Lord and King. Having been involved in Tambourine Ministry for the March for Jesus, I was always impacted by the fact that Ruth was one who understood and supported completely the power of extravagent praise and worship. She understood our love for Jesus and our hearts for the city. My heart goes out to her family and friends - to say she will be greatly missed is a vast understatement. Your love and ministry went far beyond the borders of this city and I am ever grateful for the countless hours and vast amounts of energy you expended to advance the Kingdom! - Posted by: Geri Gawley (Friend) on: Feb 15, 2020

  • I remember Ruth as a lady who took her Christianity very seriously. She was steadfast in her love of, and commitment to, God. She loved God and she loved His Word. And her faith was not just theoretical. Ruth was a Christian whose faith was very practical. Her faith was not without works, which she did to the glory of God. She ran a good race. She fought a good fight. She finished her course. Her life was a blessing to many. - Posted by: Ken Johnston (friend) on: Feb 15, 2020

  • Our dear Ruth. I give thanks to Jesus for Ruth and all she has done to advance the kingdom of God through her love and steadfastness of her faith. Her commitment to serving the Body of Christ was unshakable. She was a true pillar in lifting up Winnipeg and Canada before God. Much of my own journey with Jesus over the years, I owe a great deal to Ruth for her love and encouragements for which I will always be grateful.
