MARY HARAPIAK
(nee ORZECHOWSKI)
September 21, 1934 - February 16, 2020

Mary passed away on February 16, 2020, at the age of 85. She peacefully left us to reunite with her beloved Michael. Although gone, her spirit and love will forever live in the memories she shared with those who knew her most.
Mary will be so sadly missed by her children, Susan (David), Robert (Sharon) and Steven; by the grandchildren who adored their Baba, Kristina (Jared), Amanda (Sheldon), Brett (Alison), Tyler (Danielle), Megan (Keith), Matthew (Christina), Kassandra and Ethan; and her great-grandchildren, Ava, Aubrey, Luke and Louis, who will forever be blessed with our memories of their Baba G. Mary is also survived by her brother Max Orzechowski (Helen).
Mary was predeceased by Michael, her husband of 56 years, her mother Anastasia, at a very young age, her father Demetryo and mother Nettie later in life.
Mary spent several years working in the retail industry, before retiring to assume her greatest role in life...as Baba. Being a Baba was such a natural fit for Mary. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them immensely.
Mary very much enjoyed cooking and gardening and the happiness each would bring. With passion and skill, she would hypnotize her family and friends with such delights as her Christmas shortbread and cheesecake, and of course her perogies and holubchi. Every year her gardens were hearty with vegetables, and blossomed with flowers.
Mary enjoyed her final years as a member of the Gimli New Horizons Centre, where she formed many friendships and actively participated in floor curling, cribbage, and bingo. An enormous fan of professional curling, you dare not phone her when playoff games were being televised.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to those who cared for our mom during these last years: CancerCare Manitoba, Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, the W.H.R.A. Palliative Care Program, and the 6th floor staff at the Health Sciences Centre Rehab and Respiratory Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
