LLOYD WATSON LAMB

Saddened by the loss, but in celebration of a wonderful life, the family announces the passing of their husband, father, brother and papa on February 13, 2020.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Marie, brother Larry, and brother-in-law Ron Tomory.
Lloyd is lovingly remembered by his wife Linda, daughters, Laura (Steve Garner) of Kamloops and Susan, granddaughter Marie, brother Don and Gail Lamb of Mississauga, ON, sister Joan Tomory of Webster, NY, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dad was born in Prince Albert, SK on February 27, 1935 and grew up in Basswood, MB. He moved to Brandon, MB to work at Western Motors.
It's in Winnipeg where he met our mother and they were married in 1959 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last fall on a European River Cruise with friends.
Dad loved to keep busy with projects, including the most cherished, their summer home in Belair, MB. Dad loved to be active and enjoyed curling for over 60 years, golfing, skating, cycling, cross country skiing and walking.
Dad worked at Birchwood Motors as Parts Manager for the majority of his career and was highly respected in the industry. During his career he won many awards and trips that took them all over the world.
The highlight of his retirement years was spending time with the light of his life, granddaughter Marie.
Lloyd valued neighbours and friendships and loved to socialize and dance to old time rock and roll. He will be remembered for his easy-going nature and great sense of humour.
The family will cherish his memory privately. To cherish his memory, be kind, wear purple, put on some old-time rock and roll and raise a glass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
The family would like to thank the staff at Victoria Hospital for their professionalism and compassion.

  • Rest in peace my friend - you were a good boss and mentor. You and gramps taught us kids a lot about the parts business. You have a hell of a good parts team waiting for you Al, Syl, Wally just to name a few who went ahead. Godspeed my friend. - Posted by: Tom Cardey (Former employee) on: Apr 20, 2025

  • We very much enjoyed joining Lloyd and Linda on those many GM trips with never a dull moment and lots of laughs. Alway willing to help fellow GM employees. Always a great voice for the dealers when he attended General Motors meeting. Lloyd was well respected by his peers. Our heartfelt sympathies to all who knew and loved him. - Posted by: Fred and Sandra Swift (Friend) on: Feb 23, 2020

  • Loved hearing stories from Sue about her dad! The stories always included a great laugh and it was always evident how caring of a man he was. I will always remember meeting Lloyd for the first time. He was volunteering in Marie’s classroom when the girls were young. They were building a wood birdhouse and Lloyd was helping ALL of the kids as most of the others were not much help. My friend Sue has inherited his love for helping others! Sending hugs to the family at a difficult time. - Posted by: Sue Buffie (Friend of Lloyd’s daughter Sue) on: Feb 22, 2020

  • Our thoughts are with you Linda, Laura, Susan and families. I had the privilege of working with Lloyd at Birchwood for many years. As mentioned above Lloyd was one of the most respected Parts Managers in not only Winnipeg but Canada as well. Speaking of old time rock and roll and dancing, I can still see Lloyd doing the macarena on a cruise we were on. I also remember him line dancing at a Birchwood Christmas party. We were happy to have Lloyd and Linda come out to our summer cottage at Culloden Lake and of course there was lots of singing and dancing old time rock and roll. Regrettably I hadn't seen Lloyd since Keith Boyd's funeral in 2016. We will be raising our martini glasses tonight toasting Lloyd. I know Lloyd will be missed but never forgotten. • Rest in Peace Lloyd. We spent many years at business and did not always agree with each other on everything. We had a friendship that lasted decades and was greatly appreciated. What a dry sense of humour and wonderful laugh. I also learned a lot from Lloyd, he was always willing to share his knowledge and the odd joke. My deepest condolences to family and friends.
