ALLEN MOODIE

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother, Allen George (Gunner), on Thursday, February 13, 2020.
Allen was the fifth child of Molly and Alex and was born on October 19, 1954. Allen was predeceased by his mom in 1982 and dad in 1995. Allen will be greatly missed by his brothers, Ken (Sandy); Bob (Sue); Dennis (Marcella); Brian (Cindy); Bruce (Sheila); sisters, Cathy (Bruce) Masters and Karen (Calvin) Burden; numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Allen loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed fishing with friends and family, but his most memorable trips were the fly-in trips with his older brother Ken; enjoyed playing baseball tournaments with his younger sisters and brothers-in-law and playing golf with his brothers and friends. Uncle Allen cherished spending time with all his nieces and nephews making them giggle and laugh.
Even though Allen moved to Kelowna and then Edmonton (where he resided at the time of his passing), he stayed an avid Bomber fan and was ecstatic to see them once again hoist the Grey Cup in 2019.
Allen was known for his great sense of humour and infectious laugh. When anyone needed a helping hand, he was first in line with his. Allen lived a very simple, basic life but would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
The world and our family is a little more empty without Allen in it. Allen, you will be missed greatly by all that loved you.
A celebration of Allen's life will be held Friday, May 15, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. James Legion #4.

  • We knew Al in his younger days when we attended St. James Collegiate, get-togethers at the Big A and Bruce Park. Al shared interest in motorcycles as did many of the St James boys. • Allen went right through Elementary School and Junior High with me. He was always such a kind person and always ready for a good laugh. I remember being part of the school play in grade 7 or 8 with Allen. I don’t remember the play but Allen had to wear a bathing suit in the middle of Winnipeg winter. It was freezing cold even inside..........covered in goose pimples Allen had us all in stitches. So sorry to hear of his passing..... - Posted by: Norma (Lobb) Finlayson (Old Friend) on: Feb 22, 2020
