ROBERT JONES COLPITTS
A lifetime bachelor, his memory is cherished by his brother William Jr. (Marlene) of Moorhead, MN; niece and nephew, Kim Colpitts and Kerry (Janet) Colpitts, both of Minneapolis, MN; and grand-nephew Nikolas Colpitts of Charlotte, NC; as well as numerous cousins.
Born in Winnipeg, Robert attended DMCI before his wander lust took over. He worked on the Dew Line in the United Kingdom, in Nebraska and back to Winnipeg before settling in Vancouver. His last employment was in Langley, BC as an LPN. His main passion besides driving his car was playing the stock market. This financed his many trips to Europe and the United States.
As an avid sports fan, after living in BC for over 40 years he still enjoyed rooting for the Bombers and the Jets. He was always kept up with the happenings in Winnipeg from his loyal friend Angus MacIver.
Robert lived a very private life in retirement, but he especially enjoyed get togethers with former friends from Langley Hospital. His daily life was sustained by wonderful people at Kerrisdale Senior Centre where he went for meals and friendship. As lifelong health issues began to take their toll he was supported by his friend and business advisor, Stuart Beaman.
The Colpitts family offers its heartfelt appreciation for the caring efforts of the 7th Floor of Blackmore Pavilion at Vancouver General Hospital in his final days.
Cremation has taken place and a private gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army.

For many years I worked with Robert at Langley Hospital. We always had fun and laughed alot. He was always helpful .Robert always talked about finances and what we should do to get ahead. After his retirement we would meet up twice a year for lunch and have alot of great laughs. He loved to show us his pictures of all of his travels. He really enjoyed retirement. I will miss him . - Posted by: frances michels (friend and co-worker) on: Feb 27, 2020

Robert was a highly respected friend who would always lend a hand, no matter what the issues. He worked at HSC when we were students. Whenever we went to the hospital cafeteria to eat he would always make time to join us. By coincidence he was in Minneapolis visiting his parents when Mark and his bride were on their honeymoon and typical for Robert, he made time to show us around. He respected our study times and always would extend an invitation to join us for a movie or a trip downtown if it fit into our schedules. All three of us shared the same rental unit until our marriages, leaving Robert as the true bachelor but a forever friend. Fondly remembered by Dr's. Our fathers worked together at Rapid Grip & Batten and our parents became very good friends. I remember when we were kids, the family would come over for a visit and the first thing Bob & Bill asked was if they could go down to see the river (our home was less than a block from the Red River!) I have many good memories of sharing time with the Colpitts family and going to football games with my parents and Uncle Bill & Auntie Dot to cheer on the DMCI team and Billy! - Posted by: Linda Paterson (family friend from long ago) on: Feb 22, 2020
