EDWARD STANLEY WAZNEY
August 16, 1957 - February 18, 2020
Eddy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Edward and Barbara Wazney on August 16, 1957. Eddy went to school in Winnipeg and after school, he went to work for the CN. He worked there for 38 years and retired in 2012.
Eddy loved Grand and Patricia Beach and especially sitting on Sunset Beach. He enjoyed puttering around in the yard and watching the birds. He also liked going out in the bush to cut wood with his buddy Earl and, of course, having happy hour with our neighbours Don and Linda. He liked going to Mexico every winter and socializing with our friends there.
He was proud of his daughter Jess who graduated last June from Art College in Toronto.
You will be missed so much, my love. We would like to thank all the friends who have helped so much during this sad time, especially Cassie Hourie.
Eddy is survived by his soul mate Corinne (Coco) Sayer, his daughters, Jess and Chelsea (Craig), his sister Irene and brother-in-law Feely, his Aunt Mary, and my children: Dana and Cory, Suzy and Josh and their children, Kristy (Robin), Benjamin, Josh, Tahvo and Asa.
Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 26, at The Stead Hall, at 1:00 p.m.

Ths is long after Ed's passing, but I just stumbled upon his obituary in the Free Press. Ed and I went to school together, although I didn't really know him then. We actually got to know each other when we both worked at Dominion Tanners in the evenings in mid-1970s. I worked just one night a week. Ed worked most nights a week, to make ends meet. Ed often drove me home after our shift. Ed Wazney was a kind and decent person. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Harold H. (Co-worker) on: Mar 20, 2024

I was fortunate to work with Edward at Symington yard, I was one of the lead hands their and helped organize and setup the shifts work assignments during the day.Edward and Cowboy Roy were the two top repair trucks. They helped me constantly through the 8 hour day. When the grey cup was being held in Winnipeg a few years ago the Chief mechanical group gave out some tickets to the top employees in their minds, I was given two, but since the home team was not in it I said I would not go and elected two give them to my top man and his girlfriend, I heard they had a blast. Coco my deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of Edward he was an outstanding person, a pleasure to know and work with, Carmen Kane. - Posted by: David Kane (WORKMATE AT CN WITH EDWARD FOR 20 YEARS) on: Mar 02, 2020

Hello Coco, so sorry to hear about Eddys passing. The last time I had contact with you and Ed was at Ronnie's funeral. Almost 8 years ago. Then a couple weeks after, my beloved husband Gary died of a heart attack. It crippled me for a long time but I do remember a couple of great times with you and Ed out at their cabin. I hope you can walk through life one moment, one minute, one day at a time. My sincerest condolences are sent to you and your family. - Posted by: Michele Klippenstien (Old friend) on: Mar 01, 2020

I am so very sad to hear of Eddy’s passing. We were old friends from the 80’s at Grand Beach. I will always remember his great sense of humor, his charm, and cheeky smile. Although I haven’t seen him in several years, I have wonderful memories of him joining us for Thanksgiving dinner on Lakeview Ave. in Grand Marais. To Coco, and your entire family, my deepest sympathy to you, during this very sad time. I am thinking of you all. To Eddy..” thanks for the memories, my dear old friend..rest easy” - Posted by: Dana Martinusen (Duguay) (Friend) on: Feb 26, 2020

Dear Corinne (Coco) One of the special memories I/we will have is when you & Eddy came for a sing along to Dale's playing guitar at Mark's place close to midnite and into the wee hours of the morning. Eddy was a great guy and we know how much he loved you. We will miss seeing him in future visits to home. Our hearts hurt for you. Be strong !!! - Posted by: Lene & Dale Sinclair ( friend) on: Feb 26, 2020

I send my deepest condolences to Coco, his daughters, stepchildren and family. Ed and I held a banter that I will forever cherish. “Peek a Boo, Baby” is a phrase that few will understand and know. (Née Coco) it was a sentiment Ed and I shared. That was filled with humor, love and respect. I send much love, big hugs and prayers to my Coco. - Posted by: Roseanne Bercier (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2020

Deepest condolences to you Coco, family & children. Eddy will be sadly missed. The days in Beaconia, when he first set down his wheels in the little trailer park, then in Grand Beach, the laugh, the good times - always with Eddy. I shall do the dancing wave we always shared, at socials, the Eddy’s cabin days, the girls of summer. Take care my friend & until the next dance. - Posted by: Amy West (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2020

I liked Eddy. As the only woman in the trades at CN for many years it wasn’t always easy. I started as an apprentice in 1984. There was a lot of times and situations where my male co-workers weren’t that inviting if you know what I mean. Then there were the good guys. I wouldn’t have made it without fellows like Eddy. He was always respectful, gentle, kind, instructive and of good cheer towards me. Always had a hello and a good to see you forthcoming. I will miss knowing that a good, decent fellow like Eddy is not amongst us anymore but I know you’ll not be forgotten. Bless your heart Eddy. Godspeed and hugs My sincere condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Charisse Rempel (CNR Pipefitter ) on: Feb 25, 2020

Eddy & my brother-in-law Brian, who is 2nd cousin to Ed were practically inseparable growing up in Wpg's West End. Ed & his brother Ronny were shy, polite teenagers as I remember, but were mischievous characters and knew how to have fun! Eddy & Ronny are together again. We are saddened & shocked of Eddy's death. He is in peace (soul) & pain free (body). Your smile will always be remembered. - Posted by: Betty Yascheshyn (Cousin by marriage) on: Feb 25, 2020

So sad to hear if Eddy’s passing. Another legend of summers growing up at Grand Beach. Oh the good times we had partying in that silver trailer he had located besides PlayLand at Grand Beach(Marais) listening to Alice Cooper classics. In recent years Eddy always made a point to say hi to me whenever we crossed paths. He would pick me out of the crowd on Grand Beach and come and say Hi. We always had our season tickets located on the second steps at Grand Beach gazing out at the crowd back in the 70’s and 80’s. Going to miss crossing paths with Eddy boy! Rest In Peace my Friend. My deepest condolences to Coco and the families. I first remember Eddy when he had his trailer beside Playland. I worked with Eddy at CN. Eddy's laughter could fill a room. My Mom and Dad (Shirley & Gord) would come home from the Birchwood and talk for hours about Eddy & Coco sitting with them. They thought the world of you two. I'm so sorry I'm unable to attend. I am at one of Eddy's Mexico spots in Puerto Vallarta. Prayers and Hugs to Coco and families. Eddy will truly be missed. - Posted by: Laureen Boyd (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2020
