JOHNNY (JOHN) PERSOWICH
December 21, 1945 - February 23, 2020

Very tired after a long, hard battle with cancer, John passed on Sunday. Very "fitting" because he always considered Sunday 'A DAY OF REST'.
His wife Joyce, of almost 53 years, and daughters, Shannon and Roxanne, sons-in-law, Rudi and Kory, and all his beautiful grandboys, Milo, Kaspar, Abel and Tawney spent the last days constantly by his side reassuring him that he was not alone. During his years of struggle, he also had a constant stream of family and friends come visit to show their love and support.
Son of Marion and John, he was born in Sirko, MB. His family included: Christina (Alex), David and Andrea, his twin Judy (Jim deceased), Stacy, Kelly, Laurie, Patricia (deceased), Mark, Matthew, Michael, Jackie (Bob), Dano and Gina, Gary (Bonnie), Anasia and Alex, Irene (Jan), Paul and Darin, Edward (Christine), Evan, Brianna and Meagan.
He also loved Joyce's family: Sonia (Edward), Monika, Maria, Patricia (deceased) (Kent), Natasha, Joanne (Johann), Johann Jr., Amelia (Mark) and Robyn.
John enjoyed his life working hard on the farm before going to work for CP Rail. He took a heavy-duty mechanics course at Red River and worked in this career till he eventually settled with Canada Post, first as sorter and then Postmaster for 35 years. After retirement he enjoyed jobs at Gunn's Bakery, Teulon Golf Course, Janitor at PO and loved helping his son-in-law Rudi at their farm.
He joined the Lions Club for 10 years. Volunteered at Teulon Fire Department for 17 years, coached his girl's baseball and volunteered in many clubs.
His hobbies included restoring cars and playing with his classic cars. He ran and cycled in Marathons, played baseball, golfing, curling, carpentry. He had a beautiful voice and played a guitar and sang, loved carolling and entertaining family and friends. He also loved to dance with Joyce, and they would tear up any dance floor.
Over the years he also loved his many travels with Joyce and girls. John loved his road trips travelling to 48 states and nine provinces.
A huge thank you goes out to Dr. K. Graham and all the wonderful staff at Stonewall Hospital for taking such good care of John.
Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Teulon Rockwood Hall at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.

  • Joyce and family so sorry to hear of John's passing. You lived on the second floor and I lived on the third floor in Winnipeg. Often wondered where you were now. - Posted by: Carol (Cole) & Dennis Turman (Old friends from the 60's !) on: Mar 05, 2020

  • Dear Joyce....and to the family....Shannon and Rudi, Roxanne and Kory, and to the growing boys Milo, Kaspar, Abel and Tawney who have been bathed in the light of all of you thus far in life. I first met John when I arrived in Teulon in 1992 - newly married to Lorraine and in a completely new place. John was the face of Canada Post for me - pleasant, helpful, warm smile, gentle, and patient when dealing with all the issues that can arise even in a smaller community's communications. You have all been through a remarkable, stressful, and transcendent journey as a family....what a surreal blessing to be able to spend so much time at John's side as he struggled through his last months. May this time be forever remembered, as a time of being lifted up out of the mundane, for the Moon was completing its most recent cycle; waning as a Balsamic Moon to greet him as Venus shone like a beacon in the western sky - his sky. Bless you all, John Murray - Posted by: Dr. John Murray (Friend) on: Mar 02, 2020

Sincerely, Don - Posted by: Don Park (Father-in-law of Natasha, john's niece) on: Mar 01, 2020

  • I am truly sorry to hear of John's passing. I remember him fondly baling hay and tinkering with old cars. Joyce was always buying alot of coveralls for his car restoration projects. The funniest part was John was wearing coveralls with the name Sam sewn on the breast pocket. A fellow stopped by and was asking John car related questions like he knew him and said thanks Sam and drove away. Joyce my deepest sympathies to you and your family. May you find comfort in the many memories of John. Vichnya Pamyat. Susan Bordun - Posted by: Susan Bordun (Past neighbor and friend ) on: Mar 01, 2020
