MARGARET FIRBY (MACGREGOR)
Born: Jan 19, 1933
Date of Passing: Feb 24, 2020Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory
January 19, 1933 - February 24, 2020
Margaret was born in Calgary in 1933 to James and Hazel Macgregor, and was raised in various cities across Canada until she settled in Winnipeg. Margaret met her soul mate, Gordon Firby, and married in 1953. Together they raised five children in a house full of love. They were fortunate to travel to many corners of the world and lived life to the fullest. Marg loved travel, theatre, bridge, crossword puzzles, and volunteering. She worked many years at Sears in custom drapes and commission sales. She was always game to redecorate a room or make up the new nursery for the latest baby. Most of all she loved being surrounded by her family.
Marg will be lovingly remembered by her children, Anne (Brian) Hall, Jim (Bonita) Firby, Joan (Ken) Friess, David Firby (Joan Walker) and Patti Russell (Dave Wiebe). Marg will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Richard (Fabiana), Jason, Steven, James (Sophie), Sara (Lindsay), Stephanie, Jennifer (Kyle), Kristen (Gillian), Melissa, Kalli, Carter, Justine, Fiona, and her great-grandchildren, Riley, Isaac, Lacey and Caspian, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, their families, and her dear friend Jeanine.
The family would like to extend deep appreciation to the 4th floor North staff at the Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers (Marg loved working with new Canadians and was so excited to see their growth in the English language), donations can be made in her honour to Edge Skills Centre Inc. in Winnipeg.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)
Jim and Bonita: So sorry to learn of your Mom's death. She always had a smile on her face and was always joking. I remember her lovely chuckle. As an aside, I just moved into your Mom's suite. Terry died three years ago and I decided to downsize. I am enjoying the wonderful view. Hope you are well and happy on the Island. I thought the world of Marg Firby. As a friend to one of her children, I admired her generosity, compassion and exhuberant laugh. Although a child, I was not invisible and was welcomed with such warmth. I am forever grateful and am saddened by her passing. - Posted by: Pierrette Timshel (Friend to Joan) on: Mar 03, 2020

Saddened to hear of Marg’s passing. My Mom, Joyce (Lunn) Bryan, and her were friends for 65+ years. They met as young working women and stayed in touch via letters and phone calls through the years. I’m sure they’re having some new adventures, laughing all the way. - Posted by: Lynne Bryan-Lair (Friend) on: Feb 29, 2020
