TREVOR OLIVER HOILETT
April 20, 1965 - February 23, 2020
Trevor was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Mary Hoilett.
Left to mourn are his wife Tracy, children, Jalen, London and Mia, brother Rupert, Auntie Lydia (Arthur), Uncle David, father and mother-in-law, Gary and Bonita, and numerous cousins and close friends.
Trevor was a gifted athlete. He excelled in hockey, basketball, football and track. He played hockey for the Selkirk Steelers, basketball for the University of Manitoba Bisons, and football for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Trevor's children were his pride and joy. He loved watching them excel in their own sports and offered many words of encouragement. Trevor worked for the Province of Manitoba and developed close friendships with many of his co-workers. He was an easy going guy who could make people laugh and often offered colourful commentary standing at the glass with the other dads. Beneath his 6'3" muscular exterior laid a heart of gold.
We wish to thank all of Trevor's close friends and co-workers that showed him such love and compassion. It means the world to us. Thank you to our close friends and hockey families that are doing the same for us right now.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.

I am so sad to hear that Trevor has died. It seems impossible for me to imagine that this person who loomed so large, literally and figuratively, in my high school life could be gone. He was a delightful person and a dear friend and although our lives have not intersected for a lifetime, his influence is part of my construction. One of my most visceral memories is SCREAMING his name from the stands in support of one basketball final or another where he saved the game. Off the court, he had an infectious giggle, a great sense of humour and a kind spirit. He was a cherished friend from long ago and my eyes well up with tears at the thought of his loss. My condolences to his friends and family. - Posted by: Elizabeth Ross (Friend) on: Aug 25, 2020

I had the good fortune to work with Trevor for a number of years at the Main Street Project. Trevor was well liked and respected by co-workers, clients and management and also by the many outside agencies that we interacted with on a daily basis. A wonderful person has been lost. - Posted by: Robert Shelfontuk (Former colleague) on: Mar 05, 2020

Deepest sympathies to Trevor’s family. Trevor was my friend and teammate on the football team at the University of Manitoba, Trevor was such a gifted athlete but best of all he had a heart of gold. Our drive in to school together was something I always looked forward to as Trevor would always make me laugh the whole drive in. He was a relentless scrabble player and I just stopped looking up the words he would put down on the board as he never made a mistake. I am lucky to have met him and I am very saddened to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Danny Jakobs (Friend ) on: Mar 05, 2020

Trevor was a very caring and kind co-worker during our years together at York Ave EIA office. I am so very sorry to hear about Trevor. He and I worked together at Main Street Project and we both shared many classes while we attended U of M. Trevor had an amazing talent working with very marginalized individuals. He was always kind, compassionate and treated everyone with dignity. Wishing his family peace. - Posted by: Chontaille Shtykalo (friend ) on: Mar 04, 2020

My condolences to his family. I met Trevor when we worked together at Main Street Project. When it was a quiet night at work we played scrabble and he won most of the games. Though I lost most of them he called me "scrabble princess". He was kind, empathetic, fearless, witty, intelligent and had a good sense of humor. I will miss you my friend. - Posted by: Joanne Szabo (friend) on: Mar 03, 2020

To Tracy, Jalen, London & Mia.. Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for all of you. Take comfort that you all have friends to support all of you. To Trevor - You had a heart as big as your smile and a unique sense of humour to compliment it all. Over the years of Konrad and Jalen growing up, I considered you a friend and one who always appreciated a good joke. You left us all way to soon Trevor. Rest In Peace - Posted by: Rob Schaepe (Friend) on: Mar 02, 2020

To the Hoilett family and the circle of friends, the shock of hearing Trevor’s death was an earthquake. Trevor was such an impressive person. We met as opponents in high school, and continued as teammates at UM Bisons Basketball team. He was equally witty as athletic, and as fierce a competitor as a supportive teammate. We are praying for God to wash this sorrow and leave only the grateful knowledge of his everlasting gift of his very touching soul. - Posted by: Brian & Monique, Simone, Renée, Aiden, Kieran, and dog-Whiskey. I met Trevor many, many years ago when he was the intake worker at the Main Street Project and I would bring in detainees. He always had a smile that would light up the whole room and we would have pleasant visits. I became re-acquainted with him later in life and he was always just a great guy to be around. I unfortunately became one of the first people to find out he had passed away. Godspeed Trevor, I hope you find some peace now. Once again, condolences to Tracy and his beautiful children.
