OLGA MAUGHAN
(nee HOMENIUK)
Olga is survived by her daughter Barbara (Kevin) and her son Douglas (Cona). She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, Trevor (Nichole), Beckki, Caitlin (Arron), and Jordan; and her adored great-grandchildren, Dexter and Sophia. Mom is also survived by her brother-in-law Jack and her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed by all of us.
Olga was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob); parents, George and Anastasia; sisters, Mary, Sophie (Nick), Ann (Steve); and brothers, William and John. She was also predeceased by her in-laws, Robert and Rebecca, Margaret (Theo), Jim (Marion), Joyce; and nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Winnipeg on September 3, 1930 and lived most of her life from her early years to her final days in the family home in Point Douglas. Although she would travel and enjoy her adventures, she always felt most comfortable at and in her home. Mom took great pride in her yard, tending to her garden and her flower beds. In full bloom it was a sight to see!
Olga's careers included working at Eaton's in the Mail Order Department and at the Donut House. We can't ever recall our mom calling in late or taking a sick day. Mom had a strong work ethic that she instilled in all of us.
Her family was her priority. She was always in the know with what we were up to and was always happy to be in the conversation while sharing her good advice along the way. Mom had other interests and hobbies including bowling (with her sisters, Sophie and Ann), fishing, and BINGO. Mom was an excellent baker. Tried and true recipes were always ready; however, she also liked to test new recipes too. Her pumpkin pie, holobchi, and pyrohy were delicious.
Our mother was a gift to fashion designers. She was always leading the way in fashion trends and always shopped for the best look at the best price. She turned many heads with her beauty and elegance.
On Olga's behalf, the family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care she received from the health care professionals, medical team, and support staff while at the St. Boniface Hospital and throughout the last few years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.

Doug, Cona and Family. We are deeply sorry to read of the loss of your Mom. Doug you always had a funny story to tell about your Mom and they were enjoyed. Larry and I were going over the Disraeli Bridge very early last Saturday morning on our way to the airport. As we went over the bridge, I looked down and wondered if your Mom still lived in Point Douglas. It sounds like it was a treasured home for a long time. You are in our thoughts during this difficult time. - Posted by: Brenda and Larry Szunyog (Friends) on: Mar 04, 2020

Barbara and Kevin, Doug and Cona, So sorry to read about the loss of your mother. Barb, your Mom was such a special lady, always giving sage advice to you, Chrissy, Susie and me in our wild and crazy youth. She always had a twinkle in eye, even when she was serious. I believe I last saw her at Mrs. Chrusch’s funeral and I thought how well she looked. She never lost her sense of humour, even in her golden years. Duncan and I are in Mexico for the winter, but are sending our condolences and hugs to all of you. Love Patti and Duncan - Posted by: Patti Wawyn (Friend) on: Mar 03, 2020

Barb and Kevin, Doug and Cona, and families, so very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. Although it's been a long time since we've seen her, we had always enjoyed her company. I would like to express my comfort to the family. Auntie Olga was always the one laughing and taking care of everyone. Her cooking was nothing but the best. OMG those Christmas dinners, and having lunch in her backyard was the best dining. Always hugs and kisses when we would visit. I remember the ladies would always get together down the street and play cards on the hot summer days with a cold beer and clamato juice. Love ya, safe passage. - Posted by: Cheryl Johnson-Marshall (Rose's eldest daughter) on: Mar 01, 2020

Visiting Aunty Olga was a true wonderful childhood memory. Many of her yummy dinners, which she made sure Shasta, Peaches and our dog Snoppy had their share. Her garden was always a true place of her love I think, except when she grew too many zucchini’s one year! She will be greatly missed but a treasured memory for me. - Posted by: Kelley Johnson (Great Great Aunt) on: Feb 29, 2020
